Sandy's Review of Thursday Nights by Lisa N. Paul

Thursday Nights by Lisa N. Paul
“I intend to f*ck you tonight, Janie.  I intend to f*ck you very well.  I am going to make you come in every way imaginable.” – Max DeLucca
“Touch me, Max,” she begged. “I need your hands on my skin. I need you everywhere.” – Janie Silver
Blurb
Pain can leave even the strongest of people weak and hollow. But when fate brings two weak souls together, will the love they find mend the fragments that are barely holding them together, or will the weight of their past finally cause them to crumble? Max DeLucca has spent seven years trying to forget the betrayal of his past. He lives his life from day to day never looking forward and never looking back. The walls around his heart keep anyone from getting too close and prevent him from feeling too much…until he meets her. Her entire life, Janie Silver searched for the kind of love that wouldn’t leave her broken and more importantly, wouldn't leave her behind. She longs for a love that can heal the wounds of her past and give her the future she knows she deserves. She thought she was looking for something that just didn’t exist…until she meets him. Danny’s on Main is where their story begins. A neighborhood bar where strangers become friends, friends become family and some … become lovers … it all started on Thursday Nights.
Sandy B’s Review

I really liked this book.  A first effort by Lisa N. Paul and absolutely a worthy read.  One interesting thing here is that we usually don’t find out what changed/ruined the male leads life until halfway through a story.  Not this time.  You find out at the very beginning why Max’s heart is completely shut down.  Let me tell you – I like that approach.  Max is a bartender at a bar that Janie and her BFFLyla hang out every Thursday night.  This bar is not just a hangout; it’s more like an oasis for Janie and Lyla.  This very interesting cast of characters has become their own nuclear family and the bonds run deep.  They are all in a way broken but in and with each other they are whole.  Does that make sense?  You’ll understand when you read Thursday Nights.  Max and Janie’s friendship has been developing into something else though neither one of them wants to admit it.  Until one fateful night when Lyla manipulates them into doing what they both want to do - GIVE IN!  I mean really by that time it is blatantly obvious to everyone in the circle that these two are hot for each other.  Unfortunately, neither one of them is prepared for the intensity of what they are both feeling.  Max and Janie each have very different reactions and that here comes the angst.  If you know me, you know that I LOVE ANGST!
Janie is open to what she is feeling but Max just won’t budge.  He can’t accept that Janie is the real deal and turns away from her.  Man I wanted to smack the business out of Max!  Janie tries to move on with a “nice” guy.  I don’t want to give anything away but the “nice” guy didn’t used to be so nice.  An interesting plot twist that adds a new angle to the story.
Did I mention hot sex?  Oh yea, there is enough of that to keep me happy.  Did I mention Max’s best friend Gage?  He’s HAWT and has his sights set on Lyla.  Lyla is not going down without a fight but that’s another story for another day.  Did I mention Kyle?  Let me tell you Kyle is all kinds of messed up in a train wreck sort of way.  The friendship between Lyla and Janie is special and I wish we knew more about it.  Lyla…hmmmm…that my friend is going to be a heck of a read.  I want more.  More of the background of Janie & Max.  More of how their friendship developed.  More about Ashley and Ryan.  More about all of them actually.  According to Lisa N. Paul – we are getting more!  Three more books to be exact.  I for one am looking forward to it.  This is a great first effort.  Did I say I want more?  LOL yes…yes I believe I did.  :-)

About the Author - Lisa N. Paul
I am a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a reader, a blogger, a writer, and a self-proclaimed comedian. (Just not always in that order.)  I have loved reading ever since I was a little girl, in fact one of the first series I remember falling in love with was the Sweet Valley High series by Francine Pascal. Those books started my obsession with series/related books.
Writing has always been a passion of mine and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to be writing both my blog, Lisa's Reads and my first novel, "Thursday Nights" book One in the Charistown series.  I can't wait for you to meet my "friends" in the Charistown series. I have fallen in love with each and every one of them and I think you will too.
Some fun facts about me....If I could only have one food for the rest of my life - it would be french fries! I love them! I also love Godiva Raspberry Truffles. Ok, enough about me.
I hope to hear from you soon, Lisa.
