***Change of Heart by S.E. Edwards Release Day Event and Giveaway!!***

Synopsis:
Persevere.

That's how I've gotten through nineteen years of life. It's what I do every single day--no matter how badly the odds are stacked against me.

Persevere, and survive.

Those are my two guiding words. I never knew either of my parents. I have no family and no home. The only person I could ever rely on was myself. In this cruel world, that's about as much as I can ask for.

Love? Hah. Don't talk to me about love. I stopped believing in it the day my first boyfriend ripped out my heart three years ago.

That's why love is the last thing on my mind when I leave a packed college bar with a captivating stranger. Yet everything changes when I'm awakened in the middle of the night by a pounding at the door. Suddenly, an arrangement meant for just one night threatens to become something much deeper.

All expectations are thrown to the wind as I'm tangled in a dangerous world unlike anything I can believe. The man I met has secrets swirling around him like a dark cape. I'm about to become his biggest one...

Excerpt:
Together, we stumble toward the elevator. Rich breaks away for a second to hit the button. The light doesn’t come on.

“Damn,” he growls, “it’s busted again.”

I’m one step ahead of him. I’d spotted the stairs when we entered. I grab his hand and pull him after me with no hesitation. I start up the cement stairwell, determined to get to his room as fast as possible.

“Penny, wait.”

I look back, confused. “What?”

A devilish smile plays on his lips. “Only this.” Without warning his hands wrap around my waist, and I’m  being lifted up as easily as if I were a doll. He turns to the side and presses my body against the wall, suspending me between him and the concrete.

His mouth crashes down on mine again. I curl my legs around his torso, locking my ankles together, and kiss him back with the passion reserved for a lover after ten long years apart. I didn’t think it was possible, but I’m getting even more turned on. Rich’s hands move down to grasp the outside of my thighs, and I moan into his kiss as the muscles of my core clench in sinful fashion. I want him so
badly. If we don’t get somewhere private soon, I won’t be wholly opposed to jumping him in public.

I gasp as he steps away, freeing me from the wall. I start to fall, but one of his hands darts down to catch me just beneath the knees.  The other one cradles my shoulders. Before I know it, I’m slung across his   arms like a bride on her wedding night.

“I’ve always wanted to carry a girl up these stairs,” Rich admits.

I laugh, and wrap my arm around his neck. “Oh, you are just the best type of romantic.”

Four flights of stairs later, Rich pushes open the fire door to a dimly-lit hallway. He carries me down the hall and stops in front of an entrance on the right. He sets me down, then fishes around in his jeans for the key. When the door creaks open, he sweeps a hand out in front of him. “Welcome to my humble abode.”

I walk in, curious about his apartment. I tend to side with the camp of people who believe that a person’s living arrangements can reveal a lot about his personality. But, I don’t find much to work with here.

The apartment is sparse and dark. Pale moonlight filters in through the balcony window, shining down on the only piece of furniture present: a queen size mattress lying on the floor of the living room. The red brick walls are totally empty—no girly posters or other things I might expect in a bachelor’s apartment. There are no lamps, no chairs, no couches.

After a moment, I notice a second piece of furniture: a small, old-school CRT TV camped in one corner of the studio apartment.

Rich switches on the light. “So?” he asks, “what do you think?”

I walk past the entrance. There’s one hall leading away from the room. It is filled with brown cardboard boxes. Lots and lots of boxes. “Did you just move in or something?”

Rich laughs behind me. “Yeah, something like that. You want a drink?”

“A drink?” I say. “No, I—”

The words catch in my throat as he grabs my hips and spins me around. I had no idea he’d come so close. He’d moved from the door to me without making a sound. His fingers lock together against my lower back, and he tugs me into him, pressing my belly to his waist. I feel his growing erection right away, and a diabolical excitement builds inside me.

Nothing happens.

For a long moment, Richard just holds me like that, staring into my eyes as I’m left dangling off his arms. His irises are the color of sea mist. I’m hypnotized by the deep intensity I see brewing just beneath the surface. I have no doubt that that type of intensity is mirrored in my eyes.

Then, moving slowly, as if restraining himself, Richard lowers his mouth to cover mine. This time, his kiss is sweet and gentle. Subtle and caring. He explores my upper lip first, then traces the line going to the corner of my mouth. His lips form a perfect mold over mine.

I was wrong before. This is the kiss reserved for a lover you haven’t seen in ten years.

Author Bio:

I'm Scarlett Edwards. I'm a full-time student (2nd year, undergrad) and part-time writer. I hope to switch those around soon!
I'm kind of old fashioned. I write all my stories using paper and ink. At the end of the day, I transcribe them on my laptop. It takes a bit longer, but writing in a notebook really focuses my thoughts.
I love vintage photography. I have an old-school film camera that was my mom's from before I was born. I use it to take pictures almost every day.
Yours to Savor is the first full book I worked on.  It went through six drafts, and took me ten months to complete.  In the two months since getting it done, I finished two drafts of brand new stories.  I'm getting faster!
I love hearing from my readers. I love getting feedback about my books. I'm just getting started, and plan on doing this writing gig for a long, long time.
I take inspiration from all the indie romance authors. Addison Moore, Samantha Young, Colleen Hoover, Jessica Sorensen, and everyone else…. you girls rock!

***Forgiven by JB McGee Blog Tour Stop and Giveaway***

Title: Forgiven (This #3)
Author:  J.B. McGee
Genre: New Adult
Publication Date:  May 16, 2013
Event organized by: Literati Literature Lovers http://literatiliteraturelovers.com

Synopsis
Everyone has a past…good or bad, they are always there. They lurk and linger in the shadows, sometimes reappearing at the most inconvenient times.

Gabby and Bradley thought that their pasts would remain dormant, that happiness was theirs for the taking. Still the strongest of relationships can be rocked by the ugliness from a previous life, even if it seems to be a world away. The fact remains an ugly past is never distant. It taints everything it touches, drives permanent rifts between loved ones, and sometimes can ruin everything. Gabby and Bradley must find the only way to battle the past. Forgiveness becomes a light through the darkness, a guide for the lost, and hope for the hopeless. With forgiveness comes bright, new beginnings

Jenn's Review:
Going to the chapel and we’re going to get married… You’re singing this aren’t you? Bradley and Gabby could not be happier. The ring is on her finger and everything is going to plan, right? WRONG!!

Forgiven is packed with so many emotional hurdles! As a couple, Bradley and Gabby go through so much in this book that sometimes I got a little nervous wondering where JB was taking me. When I can laugh, cry and swoon in one book, I know it’s a great one!

From the beginning, I could feel their excitement. Newly engaged and talking about moving in together. Gabby still has a lot on her plate though. She is transferring schools and needing to get packed up to move. But she’s ready for them to get their lives together started. And, she’s ready in other ways as well. However, they both have decided they will wait until after the wedding to make love for the first time. It is a promise she made to her mom and she is going to keep it. Bradley is very supportive of her decision and it made me love him even more.

The story is only just beginning. When Gabby finds out something that Bradley kept from her, she falls apart. Bradley doesn’t know what to do. Sam, Gabby's sister, is angry at Bradley; all he had to do was keep his mouth shut. So with Gabby dealing with her past, and Bradley having to deal with Veronica and possibly his future, tensions run high and feelings are hurt.

“Because Bradley, when I needed you, you were with her. You chose her.”

There were so many times while reading that I was so nervous, I felt like I had cotton in my mouth! My stomach was in knots and I couldn’t stop reading, I had to know what was going to happen with everyone! JB has given us a story that is not the norm. Yes, it is a beautiful love story and I loved the fact that Gabby was not going to be swayed from her principles, no matter how badly she wanted to! I laughed, cried and swooned and I loved every minute of ‘This’ great story!

***Beside Your Heart by Mary Whitney***

Title: Beside Your Heart
Author:  Mary Whitney
Genre: New Adult Romance
Publish Date: June 17, 2013
Event Organized By: Literati Literature Lovers

Synopsis:
Late one night Nicki Johnson plays with emotional fire and Googles her high school love, only to find his name splashed across the British gossip columns. Back in his native England, Adam Kincaid is successful and dating a woman from an aristocratic family like his own. With a career in politics, Nicki’s no slouch, but she knows Adam is living a world away from her life. Yet there was a time he was no farther than the next locker. Nicki will never forget their year together in high school—the year of her sister’s death, the year her mother checked out. Adam helped Nicki through suffocating grief, and she led him through a coming of age. Was it just high school, or was it something more?

Beside Your Heart Excerpt:
“No British literature. Isn’t this supposed to be an English class?” Adam asked.
“Uh.” My ancestors would’ve been proud of the jolt of American patriotism that hit me.  “There was a revolution two hundred years ago. We write our own books now.”
He leaned back in his seat with a smile. “I think I heard about that.”
“We still share the same language.”
“Sometimes I’m not too sure.”
“I bet not.” I could imagine what he thought of a Texas accent.
He picked up the list of books again. “What about Catcher in the Rye?”
“I read it a long time ago when I was, like, eleven.” I laughed a little as I remembered how I’d first come to read it.
“Is there something funny about that?”
“Yeah. My father had suggested I read it then. The book is the classic coming-of-age story. Clearly, he wasn’t really thinking about whether or not it was appropriate for an eleven-year-old.”
“Really? Why?”
“Well, for one thing, the main character is a guy who swears a lot.”
“I suppose I swear a lot.” He cracked a sly smile. “At least compared to you Yankees.”
“Yankees? You’re in the South.” I laughed.
“What else is inappropriate about the book? Now I’m interested. It can’t only be a few swear words.”
“No, it’s not just that. It’s…” I hesitated for a moment as I realized I was about to bring up the topic of sex with Adam Kincaid. What the hell, I thought. I should be matter-of-fact about it. He had a girlfriend and would never want anything with me. I could hide I thought he was hot, so I shrugged. “Holden, the main character…he’s a little sexually frustrated.”
His eyes twinkled, and it felt as if my words hung in the air. I wanted to squirm in my seat. ‘Sexually frustrated’—like me checking out Adam Kincaid.
His proper upbringing showed again as he sidestepped the issue, yet he smirked. “That sounds like an adventurous book to be on an American high school syllabus.”
“Like I said—it’s considered an American classic.” I laughed. “I guess some things are sacred.”
“But of course.” The gleam appeared in his eye again, and he turned toward me in his seat. “Teenage sexual frustration is sort of a rite of passage, if you will.”
There went the good-English-boy manners out the window. His tone, the look in his eye, his body language—was he flirting with or taunting me? I decided the former was impossible, and if the latter, I wasn’t going to back down. With two parents who were lawyers, debate was a family routine.
“A rite of passage? More like a biological fact, isn’t it?” I asked, casually clicking my pen. I raised a brow. “Especially for guys.”
“You’re right about that,” he said with a grin.
His eyes shifted downward, and I could feel him give me a once-over. I wondered what he thought. I was no Meredith, but I had enough self-confidence to know I wasn’t butt-ugly either—even with my scars. I couldn’t tell, but he’d distracted me so much, I jumped when I heard Mrs. Anderson ask, “Your name, dear?”
About the author:
Even before she graduated from law school, Mary knew she wasn't cut out to be a real lawyer. Drawn to politics, she's spent her career as an organizer, lobbyist, and nonprofit executive. ***Lesley's Review of Twisted by Rebecca Zanetti***

Blurb
Maggie is a wolf shifter who was captured and experimented on by the Kurjans. Now that a cure has finally been found for shifters (although not for vampire mates or witches), she can concentrate on creating a new life for herself and finally accepting that her memories are gone forever. Most memories, that is. Sometimes in the hazy world between dreams and dawn, she hears a Scottish voice, dark and deep, that sounds suspiciously like wolf-shifter Terrent Vilks. A man she happened to anger by kidnapping a few years back. Hey, it was for a good cause.

Terrent Vilks knows more than he’s let on for the past several years. After digging for answers, he knows exactly why the demons want Maggie dead. And he remembers his past with Maggie…very well. She is finally where he wants her. Now all he has to do is discover what exactly the Kurjans did to her, beat the demons into so much submission they leave her alone, and get her to fall in love with him. Again. Good thing he’s used to wrangling monsters.

Lesley's Review
I was thrilled when I received the ARC for Twisted. I am a BIG fan of this series. Rebecca Zanetti has worked her literary magic again. I couldn’t stop reading once I started. Twisted is book 5.5 of The Dark Protectors series. I do not recommend reading if you have not read the previous books. This Novella is about TerrentVilks and Maggie. We met these characters in previous books and I don’t know about you all but I was hoping there was romance budding between the two. But I did not expect the Twist in the story. The twist being that Terrent knows Maggie and they have a serious past.
I want you to remember me from before you were kidnapped ten years ago.”
Maggie, the smart-assed, clumsy wolf shifter, whose memory has evaded her for the last ten years, is sent to Wolf shifter headquarters to ferret out the traitor sabotaging the vaccinations. She has spent the last 10 years with the vampires and not with a wolf pack. Excited and nervous to be around her “people”, she’s hoping to help the Realm by catching the perpetrator. Maggie is taken toTerrentVilks. The man who makes her feel strange things, and quite frankly makes her nervous. Well, she did take him hostage once.
As head of the Bane’s Council, Terrent is in charge of hunting werewolves and investigating Shifter affairs. He’s all Alpha male and ready to claim his mate. He’s finally gotten Maggie where he wants her. With him but, she is one stubborn woman. Can he get her to trust him? Fall in Love with him? Or perhaps maybe, her memories will return. One thing is for sure, she is his. He’s waited 10 years, little wolf.
“I own you, little wolf. Never forget it.”
Maggie is caught between what she remembers and what she’s being told. How could he not tell her that they had a past! He wants her to mate with him. Maggie is having no parts of the mating but she can’t fight the feelings of lust and maybe a little something else. Terrent has to step up to plate immediately, protecting Maggie. Her pack has found out she was alive. They want her. The Raze pack, who they are currently staying with is unsettled, a new alpha is about to take over. As things get hot and heavy between Maggie and Terrent Maggie begins to feel her love for Terrent. She wonders if she really needs her memories to create a future. Create a family?Find a pack?
“Yeah. On some level, she remembered him. He’d been right. She’d loved him. Hell, maybe she still did. Seeing him taking down three wolves heated the blood in her veins. As an animal shifter, he was all alpha. The perfect mate to protect the children she wanted to have. Someday.”
It’s a short story but it packs a punch. We experience the intense lust between the two wolves and his dominate nature. Her sassiness antagonizing his in charge nature. Who doesn’t love an alpha male? One word – HOT.  I definitely love seeing them challenged. All that mixed together and it lead to some steamy moments.Oh, Yeah.
Air swept against her as they maneuvered to the rear of the cabin. The scent of Scotch, musk and male filled her senses. Her butt slapped the hardwood desk in his study. Then he was on her. Hands in her hair, mouth taking hers……..”
Let’s not forget some kick assfighting and you have a sexy, action adventure.  I loved this story. Terrent has always been a character that struck my curiosity. And poor Maggie, had no clue who she is or where she was from. In this story we find closure for them. I’m happy they got a story. Every book in this series is so well written and integrated with the others, you really feel that you are always in touch with all the characters, forming a bond with the Realm.I highly recommend this series if you love alphas and the paranormal genre.  I give this book 4.5 novella stars.I’ll be waiting not so patiently for Jase’s story. Squeee!

***Shades of Shame by Laura and Christopher Cooper***

Shades of Shame Blurb
To the average eye this Washington D.C. power couple seems to have it all:  power, money, status.  What they really have is a firm grip on the image they portray.  However, like most couples in this social circle, they live very different lives behind closed doors.
David and Elise McNarry are a seasoned, political couple, and they understand the importance of appearance. They also understand that their relationship is based on love, not sex.  And while they’re still both madly in love with one another, they have grown apart over the years.
Facing the consequences of exposure, their chief political strategist and friend Patricia Johnson comes up with a plan to put out the fires before the media can fan the flames.  But when things don’t go as planned, it’s more than feelings that are at stake.

        Excerpt
The phone stopped blinking and David McNarry lifted his head and his eyes narrowed in on her, “You were telling me what your type of man was.”
“Right.  My type.  You really want to know my type?”  Leila settled back into her chair and sipped her drink.
“Yes Leila I think I’d be very interested in that information,” David smiled conspiratorially.
“I like a mature man, a little gray around the temples, and one that views his experience as an asset.  Someone who knows what they want, and isn’t afraid to do anything to get it.”  She watched him carefully to see his reaction.  Most people would have thought her words were too forward but David smiled slightly.  It was as if he expected those very words to flow from her shiny pink lips.
“Anything?”
“Anything.  But most of all, someone who could take me as their own, not afraid to objectify me, and use me as they wished.”
“Sounds pretty daring.  Not much of a romantic, are we?”  This was clearly a test, she thought.  This was his way of seeing if I were serious.
“Not at all.  For one to be romantic, you must put more into lovemaking than I have the time or inclination for.  No, just give me the raw, carnal sex, and don’t hold back.  I like it…” she said with a whisper as she stood and approached him, “rough.”
The Senator cleared his throat, making a loud, obvious sound in order to convey not only his surprise, but his approval.  “I see where my son could fall short, now.  He’s just like his Mother:  a hopeless romantic.”
Leila walked around the back of his chair, trailing her hand across his chest and around his throat.  “I haven’t seen Logan in years, Senator, but I hear he’s still a good boy.  Good boys are nice, but they bore me.  If he knew what I was thinking right now, he’d be ashamed of both of us…”
“There are many shades of shame, my dear.  You just have to find the one you’re comfortable with,” his breath became heavier with her closeness.
“Exactly.  And you, sir?”  Leila ran her fingers through his hair, pulling his head back and forcing his gaze to the ceiling.  “What are you comfortable with?”
He let out a muffled laugh, faint, but audible enough to get his point across.  “I’m certain we could find a shade we’re both comfortable with.”

   About the authors
Christopher and I are from the coastal area of South Carolina, what the locals would call the ‘lowcountry.’  We live a quiet life nestled just outside of Charleston with our eighteen dogs and one cat (Jenny), who thinks she’s a dog.
Chris and I started writing short stories for each several years ago.  As time passed, our stories got a little longer, and one might say a little more developed.  With Christopher’s support, I was able to dedicate my time fully to writing, and with his help published my first book in 2010.
Our focus now is developing a more complete storyline filled with rich, robust characters.  Concentrating on character development, scene development, and storyline development has been both challenging and rewarding.  Most of all, the ability to work with someone who understands constructive criticism has hopefully made us both better writers with each attempt.
We love to get emails, and we’re working on a blog site where we can post some spoilers and such.  We check into facebook periodically, and need to get back onto my blogs backpocketbeer.blogspot.com and laurabcooper.blogspot.com, so look us up!  Or contact us at christophercooper67@gmail.com or lbcooper123@gmail.com!

Music is the only thing that keeps her sanity in check. Charlie catches the eye of the town star quarterback, Maverick. Unfortunately, Charlie doesn’t see it herself. Proving it to her may deem harder than he thinks, especially when tragedy strikes and tears them apart. Now standing on her own two feet she may finally learn exactly who she is, what’s she’s capable of and how very un plain Jane she really is.

Excerpt:
I’m pressed firmly against him and place my hand on the hardness of his muscled chest. The nearness of him is intoxicating. My heart speeds up with the knowledge of what is inevitably going to happen next. Right now, I don't care how long I've known him or what the usual rules of dating dictate.
We are staring at each other eye to eye. “I’m going to kiss you now Charlie,” Maverick whispers.
At that moment, all I can do is nod. No words were going to be coming out of this mouth; it was going to be used for other things.
Maverick moves his arms from around my waist, gently cups my face with his hands and tips my head back some. He places his lips on mine, and it was as if time stood still. His kiss starts out oh so slowly, and as we find our rhythm, it begins to increase in pressure and intensity. My arms, having a mind of their own, begin to wrap around his neck and pull him even closer, although I'm not sure how that is even possible. I honestly didn’t think we could get any closer together than we already were. Maverick kisses me like I am everything, like I was his last dying breath. I have never been kissed like this before.
I finally draw away from him to catch my breath. “That was…”
Maverick looks me in the eyes. “Wow.”

Sandy's Review:
“Saying I love you is huge, but to kiss someone who has told you that means everything. A kiss speaks the truth, and I know. I know in his kisses, that he means every single word.” - Charlie

“Her name is Charlie. It seems to fit her. She seems so shy, but something tells me this girl isn't really what she seems, and she's worth getting to know. Charlie. For a girl. It's different, but I like it. No, I love it. And it's sexy as hell.” - Maverick

Heather Gunter was one of my fave bloggers on FB.  She then became one of my favorite people.  Now with her debut novel Love Notes – I am seeing her with new eyes – she is also an amazing writer.
Charlie was never going to measure up – at least not in her father’s eyes. Her parents are horrible people.  You ever see the movie Matilda?  The Danny DaVito and Rhea Perlman characters kind of horrible!  Honestly, I wanted to open up a can of whoop ass on them.
Despite this Charlie manages to stay hopeful about life even though she doesn’t feel very good about herself. Maverick is the BMOC, he’s gorgous, he’s sexy, he’s captain of the football team and has Leave It to Beaver parents.  You might expect him to be a jerk or conceited but he’s totally not. There is also Charlie’s BFF Tori who is seriously adorable. (Really looking forward to Tori’s story. Heartstrings is due September 2013.)
You have probably gathered by now that Heather tackles the topic of abuse in this book.  There is no doubt that Charlie’s parents are abusive.  Maverick sees Charlie for who she really is and not what she perceives herself to be.
These are high school kids so you expect emotions to run high and you expect angst.  What you might not expect is the sweet, all encompassing, the earth just moved when I met you laid eyes on you type  of love. If you are expecting a 50 Shades hot sex type of book – Love Notes – is not it.  However, you can settle down and spend an afternoon reading this wonderful story and have a smile on your face by the time you turn the last page.  I “felt” this book.  Ultimately, the road to love does not run smoothly but I really loved the ride – actually I wish the ride had been a little bit longer.
