  EXCERPT:
As I approach his house, I see his Jeep parked in the drive, the hood up, and a tight, jean-clad ass bent over the side.
Okay, he’s definitely home.
I tentatively wander around the other side of the Jeep and lean against the side, looking at the engine. He hasn’t noticed that I’m here yet, and I’m not even sure how he’ll react to seeing me here, but I can’t seem to stay away. His dark head is bent low, his arms buried in the engine, tinkering with something. His arms are bare as he’s pulled off his T-shirt, which is draped over the windshield. A thin sheen of sweat covers his shoulders and back, and his entire sleeve tattoo, which runs from just above his wrist all the way up to the top of his right shoulder, is on full display, making my girlie parts all tingle and come to life.
Holy Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.
He’s so fucking toned it’s crazy. Jeez, his muscles bunch and stretch as he pulls on the wrench in his hand.
“Come on, you motherfucker,” he mutters. I have to bite my lips to keep from laughing out loud.
“So, what seems to be the problem?” I finally ask when he doesn’t notice me, keeping my eyes trained on the engine when his head whips up to look at me. I slowly lift my eyes to his and grin.
“I didn’t hear your car,” he murmurs with a smile.
“I walked.” I shrug and look back down into the bowels of his Jeep. “What’s wrong with your car?”
“You walked from your house?” he asks incredulously.
“No.” I shake my head and chuckle. “From Sips. I had coffee with Cara this morning.”
He stands up straight and leans his palms on the side of the Jeep, watching me. My eyes immediately fall to one drop of sweat slowly making its way down his hard chest.
“You had coffee with Cara?” He smiles.
“Yeah.” I shrug shyly. “I’m sorry to just stop by like this. I was out for a walk and just sort of found myself here.” I feel my cheeks heat and I back away, but he shakes his head and smiles widely.
“I’m glad you came by.” He raises his brows as I continue to stare.
I shake my head and raise my eyes to his, then bust out laughing.
“Why are you laughing?” he asks with a wide grin.
“Because I don’t think I’ve ever seen you without a shirt. I didn’t realize the tats went all the way up your arm. Who would have thought that under it all you’re just a bad boy?”
His eyes flash with heat as he narrows them on my face, watching me. He pulls a rag out of his back pocket and begins wiping off his hands, but his gray eyes stay on mine. Did I offend him?
“I’m not such a bad boy. Looks can be deceiving, Lauren.” He smirks as he lowers the hood on his Jeep. “But from the look of you right now, you don’t seem to mind the tats.”
“I don’t mind.” I shrug nonchalantly and try to ignore the way my heart picks up speed as he slowly saunters around the hood of the vehicle.
“Do you have any tats?”
“Yeah.”
His eyes widen in surprise and then rake over me from head to toe.
“Where?”
I grin, enjoying this flirtatious banter. “Here and there.”
“I have ways of making people talk, you know.”
“Bright lights and rubber hoses?” I ask with a raised brow.
He tosses his head back and laughs, an all-out belly laugh. “I’m not a cop,” he smirks.
“You might get to see them. Someday.”
He closes the gap between us and kisses me gently on the forehead, not touching me anywhere else.
“I hope someday comes sooner rather than later,” he whispers before pulling back and smiling softly down at me. “I would hug you, but I’m dirty.”
I wave him off, as if it’s no biggie, although I don’t mind so much that he’s a bit dirty and sweaty. “What were you doing?” I gesture to the car.
“Changing the oil.”
“There are places you can go,” I inform him with a perfectly straight face, “where you pull into this big garage, and then you leave your car and go into this small room with five-year-old magazines and stale coffee, and the people there will change your oil for you.”
“Or, smart-ass, I can do it myself in my own driveway.”
“Suit yourself.” I shrug.
“Did you sleep okay on the couch?” he asks, changing the subject.
“Yeah, actually, I did. But I could always sleep just about anywhere.”
“Hence the chaise in your office.” He chuckles.
I nod and stuff my hands in my pockets. “I’m sorry that I interrupted your morning. I was just out for a walk and found myself here.”
“I’m glad you did.” He scratches his stomach, and my eyes follow the movement. His abs are just delicious. For being so dark haired, he has little hair on his chest and stomach, but a light trail of hair falls from his navel and disappears into his jeans. He’s also sporting a V in the muscles on his hips that the heroes in my novels would covet.
“Lo?” he asks with a wide grin.
“Yeah?” I drag my eyes up to his again.
“I lost you for a second.”
I blink rapidly and feel heat fill my cheeks. Jesus, get a grip! You’ve seen hot men before, Lauren. “Sorry, my mind wandered.”

Money ~ power ~ fame

Kelsey

Growing up in the arms of one of the wealthiest families in America, I lived a champagne lifestyle and never wanted for anything.

That life came with stipulations…
1.            Marry the man I don’t love.
2.            Make my parents proud.

Wrong.

I left my Manolos and fancy apartment behind and fled that life to find out who I really was.

Someone unexpected bulldozed my life.

Riley Jackson

He was the man everyone, including me, wanted, but his future was one I wasn’t sure I wanted to thrust myself back into. And when he chose a career over the family business, his family supported him instead of pushing him away.

My past collided with my future.
I didn’t see it coming. If I had, I would’ve ran far, far away.

Now I’m stuck in the same position I started in two years ago, except this time, it’s not my decision to make.

Loyalty to your family? Loyalty to your own happiness?

Which would you choose?
          Excerpt
The past week has been pure hell. After I left his parents’ house, something shifted in our relationship, and it wasn’t for the better. I knew the moment Todd called me his ex-fiancé in front of everyone, things between Riley and I would never be the same. I could feel it deep within my soul. It was like all the air had been sucked out of the room and I couldn’t breathe. Now, I’m suffocating.

That was seven days ago.

Seven days that my calls and texts have gone unanswered.

Seven days since I’ve seen him.

I’d like to chalk it up to he’s just busy but I know differently. Sleep has evaded me. My appetite is no longer existent. I stay holed up in my room, only leaving for work. I’m living like a hermit. I’ve become a shell of the person I was a week ago. Jen has exhausted all her efforts to make me feel better, but it’s no use. In a million pieces, I left my heart in a driveway in Alabama and, for the first time in my life, I don’t know how to cope.

After deciding that I’m finished trying to get him to come to me, I make the decision to go to him. In a pair of sweat pants and a ratted T-shirt, I pull myself out of bed, not giving a damn how I look. He needs to see what his avoidance has done to me. I go into the bathroom and what I see in the mirror doesn’t surprise me at all. Bloodshot eyes, the tip of my nose and lips red and swollen, and my hair a mess, at least I look how I feel, like shit. For the first time in days, I brush my teeth and even the fresh feeling doesn’t improve my mood. I pull my hair back in a messy bun and decide that’s as good as it’s going to get.

“Where are you going?” Jen asks cautiously as I pick up my purse off the bookshelf by the couch.

“Out,” I answer in a monotone voice, the same voice she’s heard all week.

“Kelsey, I don’t think that’s a good ide—,” she states, but I don’t let her finish as I walk out the door, promptly shutting it on her response.

As I walk out into the humid summer air that the end of July brings, I make my way to my car. It’s pouring out, which causes me to laugh out sardonically. The irony of the storm brewing above matches the tidal wave of emotions happening within me. Realistically, I know, in the state I’m in, I probably shouldn’t be driving, but I’m to the point that I just don’t give a shit anymore.

I’m not sure how I make it to Riley’s house in one piece. On a normal day, the drive would have taken me thirty minutes without traffic, but in a storm, it should have taken me longer. Magically, I make it there in fifteen. And here I sit, probably looking like a stalker, in the driveway parked behind his car. A silver Mercedes occupies the spot where I normally park. Thunder and lightning collide in the night sky, rattling the windows in my car. Rain pours down in sheets, soaking me to the bone as soon as I step out of my car to make my way up the walkway and stairs until I’m standing at the front entrance.

On the other side of this door is the one person that can make all the hurt I’ve been feeling this past week disappear. Pain pierces straight through my heart at the thought of not seeing him again. I sniffle back the tears that I’ve been crying for days. My hands brace my weight against the doorframe as memories of us assault me. The night at City Market when we danced in the middle of Ellis Square, our first technical date, the Blackhawk, the first time we made love, the first time he told me he loved me. I squeeze my eyes shut tightly willing the memories, the happiest memories I’ve ever known, to stop. Tears mix in with the rain as they both flow down my face. Heaving a deep breath, I push myself upright, square my shoulders, and hold my head up high. If this is it, if what we have is really over, then he better be man enough to tell me to my face. The unknown of what is about to come out of this whole situation scares the shit out of me, but I need to know. Slowly, I raise my fist to knock on the door when it suddenly flies open and what I see makes me want to vomit all over again.

A tall, blonde pulls at the hem of her shirt as she rights herself. My eyes feel like they are about to pop out as my mouth opens and shuts as if I’m about to say something. Smeared lipstick stains her cheeks and I’m not sure who’s more shocked, her or me. When my wide eyes meet hers, it literally feels as if a knife has stabbed me in the stomach. If I thought for one second that this past week showed me what actual pain was, I was dead wrong. My knees feel as if they’re about to give way beneath my weight as I stare at the woman in front of me. She smiles at me and her eyes rake over my body, clearly deciding that I’m no competition for her. I look past her to see Riley sitting on the couch in just his jeans, his head in his hands. A tumbler filled with amber liquid rests in front of him on the coffee table.

“Are you fucking serious right now?” I ask through a sob.

The woman looks back at him over her shoulder before turning to look at me. She shrugs her shoulders and says, “Maybe you’ll do the trick. He couldn’t even get it up because he’s so drunk.”

I storm past her, shoving her out of the way, as I make my way to stand directly in front of Riley.

“Hey, bitch, watch it,” she shouts.

When I look at her, she must realize that I’m about to release the hounds of hell in this house because she slowly begins her retreat out the door.

“Get. The. Fuck. Out.” The menacing tone of my voice scares even me.

As soon as the door clicks shut behind her, I turn all my anger, hurt, and rage on the only man deserving of my wrath.

“You have something you want to tell me?” I ask. Tears flow freely down my face. There’s no use in trying to conceal them. They just continue to race down my face on their own accord.

He shakes his head from side to side, groaning.

“I asked you a fucking question.”

When he looks up at me, I literally drop to my knees. His eyes are just as bloodshot as mine. The scent of whiskey seeps out of his pores. The evidence of lipstick runs down his neck, across his jaw, and on his lips. My hand flies to my mouth as bile rises in my throat.

“I am so fucking sorry,” he whispers, shaking his head and his eyes holding a vacant stare.

Jenn's Review

So many thoughts went through my head when I finished this book! I have to say this book had it all. Almost as soon as I began reading, I wanted to throat punch several people. Down right shock and anger were my feelings. Shortly after that I was fist bumping the sky. GIRL POWER! LOL.

Kelsey’s new life was a complete 180 from the one she left. Working nights at a diner and sharing an apartment with her best friend, that was her life. That was, until Riley came in one night and changed it all.
Her past is in the past and that was where she wanted it to stay. And, of course, that is never how it happens. She is ashamed of what she had to endure, all in the hopes that she would finally make her parents proud of her. Maybe even show her some love. By the way, her parents are two of the people I wanted to throat punch. They are horrible human beings and what’s sad is that people like that really exist!

So what happens when what you were running away from lands right in front of you? Things not shared that should’ve been and things said and done in moments of anger and desperation. Bad things, I tell you!

Now, let me tell you…This book is HAWT!! Original and creative made it even more enjoyable! And last, I cried like a little girl that had just been told she had to give away all her Disney princesses! I’m being completely serious and just wanted to give you an idea of how heartbroken I was!!

I loved this book from beginning to end. Every. Single. Word. I cannot wait to read what Tiffany comes up with next.

When he isn't busy commanding the stage and wooing every groupie in sight, he's living for the three Bs; Bitches, Booze, and Bacon. He has it all, or so he thought.   Watching his bandmate, then his brother, fall in love has him wondering if he is even capable of love at all. The media is sniffing around, latching on to everything, and anything, they can dig up, as someone seems to be feeding the monster all Shaft's dirty secrets. Lies and betrayal mix with banter, sex and bacon as Shaft prepares to release their new album and blow into the mainstream.

Excerpt

Taking a breath, I hold my head up and walk into the bar. Hunter is parked on a stool, slumped over so that he is lying face down on the bar. The only movement he makes is the rise and fall of his even breathing. My feet carry me to him, as if moving on their own; taking me to where I desperately want to stay forever, by his side. Even if I know it is an impossible dream, that I am only punishing myself. I can let myself believe it if only for tonight, while I take care of him, that Hunter is mine.

“Shop washin’ me and come shit on my wap.” He slurs, making me laugh.

Unable to hide how amusing I find his slurring blunder, I hop onto the empty stool next to him. “I’m not washin’ or shitting on anything.”

Turning his face to meet my gaze, Hunter smiles at me sadly. “Tiger Lily, why’d you come? I’m assmole.”

“Because I care about you, assmole.” I giggle, sliding from the stool to help him to his feet. “Let’s get you back to your hotel, everything will be okay.”

Looking at me in disbelief, he blinks rapidly. “You’ll hate me.”

“I doubt that.” I reply. “He pay you up?” I ask the bartender, who just nods in my direction.

Wrapping my arms around his waist to steady him, I help Hunter stagger his way out to the van. “Wanna violate me in the car?” He slurs, reaching around to cup my ass. “Hump me… hump me…” I steady my grip when he flings his arms out, trying to keep us from crashing to the pavement. All while his singing a repeat chorus of ‘Hump me’ has a crowd gathering on the street.

“That’s Hunter from Shaft!” A woman screams.

“Holy shit, it is.” Someone replies, “Who’s your kitten for tonight Hunter?” The man asks, making Hunter stiffen against me. Shit.

Staggering forward, we bump into the van before Henry can get the door. “Who her?” Hunter slurs, “She’s not a kitten. Chase’s my Tiger Lily.” He explains as if it makes a difference to anyone staring or grabbing for a phone to snap a photo.

“Alright, time to go, brother.” Henry says, shoving Hunter into the van.

“Big Maaaaaaaaan!” Hunter sings, grabbing his arms. “Chase is gonna hummmmmmmp meeeeeeee!”

“Oh yeah, you’re shattered.” Henry chuckles, moving to let me climb in the back with our drunken songbird.

I blush ten shades of red at Hunter’s raunchy outburst, as camera phone flashes go off all around us. “We gotta get him outta here.” I say shoving into the van beside him. “He’ll be a trending topic before the sun comes up.” I say, slamming the door as Henry climbs into the driver seat and pulls out.

“Hashtag assmole!” Hunter says, sprawling across the bench seat, pulling me on top of him. “My dick wants to trend in your ass. Can I twitter your clitter?” He asks, arching his eyebrow.

The thought of him twittering anything with that amazing mouth of his has my entire body humming with excitement. My nipples harden against his chest. The fabric of my dress rubbing painfully against the aching points is not helping me focus on sobering him up. “Let’s get you back to the hotel Hunter, okay?” I purr sweetly. “Then I’ll help you get cleaned up before we feed you something. I’ll order bacon.”
He closes his eyes, no doubt having bacon devouring fantasies. “My penis is horny.”

***Lesley's Review of Fall: Book 1 - The Cold Mark Saga by Scarlett Dawn***

AMAZON ~ B&N ~ KOBO ~ iBooks

Fall blurb:
A savagely wicked new adult sci-fi series blasts off with Fall, the first novella in The Cold Mark Saga...

Only one thousand Humans survived The Travel from the shattered Earth. Some Humans say it was their penance for crushing such beauty. Eighteen-year-old Braita merely thought it was pathetic - pathetic that her people had been that blind.

Now, the Humans live in the solar system, Kline, where three planets are habitable. Joyal, the smallest planet, is embraced by the Humans - their family to love as they had never loved Earth. Though a planet covered mainly in water is dangerous real estate to dwell upon.

Their worry turns into devastating reality when Braita’s blessed village is struck by a tsunami. Population numbers must be kept to a minimum. Drastic measures must be taken. Braita’s life is twisted in brutality when she is chosen as one of the three hundred Humans to be removed from Joyal…and sent to the Mian, the aliens to fear, on the planet Triaz.

Thrown head first into a barbaric world she knows nothing of, Braita must adapt to a dark life as a slave of the Mian society. Her existence depends on it…and possibly, the fall of her heart.

Lesley's Review

Sometimes I get into these ruts where I can’t get into a book. FALL became the one knocked me out of my funk. It sucked me into its extraterrestrial world. FALL for me was a refreshing step away from the normal. I am a big fan of different, which is why that makes me a big fan of Scarlett Dawn’s. She has a way of making her made up worlds come to life and yet, feel real enough that you can relate.

The Story begins with Briata Valorngoing about a normal day on her home away from home. This new planet Joyal, is all that she’s ever known. Earth is now only in history books. I almost feel like I get a sense of a “hippy” culture because everything so peaceful and they worship the planet.
Yet, things feel off kilter. I’m not sure what I expected, but I did not expect what this book turned into. I was pleasantly surprised with the change in environment.

You know what they say “everything is good until it’s not”.

“Only the rush of water and wind was heard past the cries of the devastated”

With disaster striking the small planet of Joyal, they are forced to rely on the help of the other nearby planets. The inhabitants on these planets could not be more different. They for one are not human. (No worries, They resemble humans. No slime or bulging eyes.) Two, they have a different way of life all together. The twist you seeis that Joyal will send several of the humans to these planets to live to preserve human life. This is where the story begins to hook me. Yes, Briata is sent to live on another planet, but as a slave. These aliens don’t seem all that friendly and her grasp of their language isn’t that great. All she knows is that they are known to be savages. They like war and all the things her species does not.

Eeep. Definite creep factor.

AND that’s where I stop explaining the story. HA!

See bits and pieces come out along the way. The whys and whats, the whos and hows, the story flows fast, but it is packed with the unknown. Part of the reason this book took me under was because I didn’t see it coming. But I will tell you this; I could have been cheering out loud for a part of the book. I was scared for Briata and excited by the events that took place. I seriously could have screamed and yelled like a mad woman in the end.I just kept saying,“What is happening”, “Oh no”, and of course I laughed. It’s the little things that count. Briata is a kick-ass character but she is ignorant to so many things. Being that she is human there’s a lot left unspoken so as not to freak her out. I think, or I hope that’s just the case because well, there are a couple of ways this could go.

And Scarlett (aka-the big tease) is a wicked, wicked woman to leave us with so many unknowns but brilliant at the same time. It keeps me guessing, and unfortunately, impatiently waiting as well. I am pretty sure I want some Plumas of my own, but I shall reserve my final decision for when I have more information. (I think I still want them any way) If my assumptions are correct, someone needs to give Briata a rude but pleasant awakening. I’d be happy to switch places with her.  I thinking she may just get thatawakening in the next installment. One can hope.

There was one qualm about this book it was TOO short. With THAT being said, this was still a great start to a new series.  4.5 I WANT MORE stars.

Just an FYI: there is M/M interaction in this book. I guess in a way some poly-amorous expectations. If that’s not for you, that’s okay, because the more for me… the merrier.

Teaser
He growls once more and then ends the call, spinning to me. “Get in that room, now.”
“Not sure that’s a good idea,” I say, taking a step back.
He lunges for me, catching hold of my wrist and hurling me so hard against his body he loses his towel. I squeal, but he keeps his arm pinned around me, pressing my thighs against his very naked body. His cock is resting on my belly, even though I can’t feel the skin, I can feel it’s presence there.
“Your….your….”
“My fuckin’ cock is on your stomach, if you keep misbehaving I’ll find a better place for it.”

Synopsis
My name was Dr. Erica Hill. I was a victim, then a witness, and then I ceased to exist altogether.
I may still be breathing, but stripped of my identity, I have long since stopped living. I am invisible, and my life depends on my ability to stay in the shadows. But he sees me.

Slate Andrews is the embodiment of everything I have been taught to avoid. He’s rich and famous, and one image of him with a woman would earn millions for any paparazzi lucky enough to snap it. He has vowed to protect me with his life, yet he exposes me with his every breath. I should be stronger and walk away. I should disappear. But I’m terrified he would come after me. I’m on the run, determined not to take him down with me but absolutely unable to let him go. My name is Riley Peterson…at least for today.

*Among The Echoes is a stand alone novel which contains material that may be offensive to some readers. Including sexual abuse, graphic language, and adult situations. Intended for readers 18+.*
