Excerpt

You sip your beer, watching me. An intense magnetism pulls between us. I'm sweating. I wipe my forehead with the back of my hand. The vodka is kicking in fast. I stumble sideways. You grip my arm.

"Feeling OK?" you ask.

The room spins and tilts. Black spots swim through my vision. "No. I need to sit." My drip slips through my fingers and splatters on my bare leg.

"I've got you." You put an arm around me and lead me toward the door. "You need some air."

I'm blacking out and coming to, over and over again. This has never happened from three and a half vodka and cranberries before. "I need to get home."

"I'll take you."

"No. I..." The words won't come. They buzz around in the darkness inside my mind searching for the light. I watch them break apart and fade. 

You usher me through the parking lot. Open the door of a black car. Put me inside. "We'll be home soon," you say, buckling a seat belt around my waist. 

I try to grip the door handle to get out. My arm won't move. My head lulls on my shoulder. The blackness narrows, leaving a small tunnel focused on the dashboard. Then it closes completely.

I love this series.  Taken has one of the hottest sex scenes that I’ve ever read and I’ve read many.  Funny thing is the two leads (Rachael & Merrick) don’t even touch each other in that particular instance.  It was mutual masturbation.  Did I say it was hot?  It was very hot.  LOL.  Sorry, I digress.

Anxiously, I watched my Kindle waiting for TBS to download.  I then stayed up much later than I should have because I couldn’t wait to read it.  All these months I had been thinking “what do you mean Merrick has a son!” and “that old bastard! How could he!” and “what the hell happens now!?”.  All these questions needed answers and finally I had them in my hot little hands. He hehe.

This is the story of MJ and his bestfriend - always love Maddie.  It’s also a story of lies, secrets, betrayal, manipulation and revenge - but in the end there is redemption.  Of course, Kelli Maine knows how to bring the sexy.  There is also that necessary dose of angst that we love.

MJ&Maddie sometimes drove me crazy but the fact is they are young (20) and young people will make you crazy.  Old man Enzo is even more despicable then we imagine.  Initially we hate Maddie because she tore out MJ’s heart but then we find out Enzo is RESPONSIBLE!  Without revealing too much we also find out that Enzo is not the only dirtbag. OTHERS are keeping secrets too.  Man was I mad.  I reeeally wanted to smack somebody!

Kelli goes back and gave us glimpses into pivotal moments during MJ & Maddies’s lives.  I loved that because it enriched the story for me.  “Seeing” Rachael and Merrick again, along with the other characters in the series was good too.  Merrick has many feelings about having a son but he loves MJ and is ready, willing and able to give MJ his all.  MJ is gonna need a minute to adjust but he wants Merrick in his life desperately.  As for that son of a bitch, Enzo, in the end we all pay for the evil deeds we do – don’t we?

This is a worthy addition to the series and I anxiously wait to read more.  KELLI MAINE you better be in your writing cave clicking away at the keys!  Your adoring public awaits!
