**AUTHOR NOTE - This is NOT a BDSM Romance**

Synopsis
We're thirteen girls, captive, slave to our master. A master we've never seen. Obedience will become all we know in our shallow existence. It is the only emotion we're permitted to feel. When we're bad, we're punished. When we're good, we're rewarded. Our scars run deep. Yet we survive, because we have to... because HE teaches us to. All of us are special, we feel it with everything we are. He has us for a reason, but it's a reason we don't know. We've never seen his face, but we know that something deeply broken lies beneath the darkness. With every touch, with every punishment, we know it. Then something changed. He showed me who he truly is. Now I want him. I'll go against everything I know to be with him.
A monster.
My monster.
Loving him is a sin, but a sinner I am. I won't stop until I see every part of him. Even the parts he keeps locked deep down inside.
I am Number Thirteen, and this is my story. No one said it was pretty, or right, but it's mine.

Sandy B's Review

I'm a big fan of Bella Jewel and would totally recommend you read her MC Sinners series - which was awesome.

However, Number Thirteen fell short for me. The premise sounded exciting but the execution wasn't what I expected. These 13 women are kidnapped (so they think), taken to a mansion, tattood with a number on their hands (they cannot remember their names) and cannot remember anything about their past because they are drugged and hypnotized into forgetting it. They are kept under guard by a man they called Master. Their "master" William is a damaged man in both spirit and appearance. Though he sees himself as their savior, and in a way he is, 2 of these women die at his hands. That colored the rest of the story for me. It lingered in the background through the rest of the book.

William and Number 13 connect and the relationship progresses but it didn't work for me. There were aspects that I enjoyed. Number 13 is a fighter! I liked that about her. It is what draws William to her. Their interactions are interesting and the sex is hot. The ending, where they all come back together, seemed brainwashy cultish to me. Having said all that would I read another Bella Jewel book? Absofreakinglutely. I'm hoping she writes a book about William's brother Ben. He might be more my thing. Though with Bella who knows what curve ball she might throw us. I'm going for the ride either way!

Please do yourself a favor and check out her MC Sinners series.
