Lesley's Review
Oh, Resplendent, What a book. I’m telling you this one had me raging so stinking hard. I wanted to break something. LOL ! I loved this book. At one point I had some tears sneak out. Shhh! But no, really this one was amazing. For me, when a book evokes strong emotions it’s a good one. I felt so much for the characters of this book. Imagine that you are starving and your favorite food sitting right beside you and never getting to taste it….let alone devour it, because it wasn’t for you.  Savannah and Andres’s relationship.Torture and Frustration come to mind.
The book starts with a glimpse into present time and then works its way up from the past building the relationship and background information between the characters. It comes full circle back to the present. Can you say angst?
Savannah “Peach” has lost her parents to a tragic accident. She has been taken in by her Madrina (god-mother), who has a daughter about her age. Savannah grows to love her new home and enjoys having Carmin around, who has become like a sister to her. She feels as though she has a faux family.  I think Savannah kind-of felt as though she didn’t belong there. Not that it was anything her Madrina did. She loves her Madrina and Carmin. She owes them everything.  Savannah was a good girl and followed the rules. So, when one night she goes to a party to meet Carmin’s new date, she is taken back by the handsome and witty Andres.  She knows that her attraction to Andres is no Bueno for her and Carmin’s relationship.
“You know that drop in your belly you feel from a roller coaster? That’s what I get when I kiss you, but better-and I really like coasters.”
Andres is taken with Savannah and forgets all about Carmin or at least tries to. Savannah is not quick to forget, Carmin. These two instantly have a great rapport with each other and Carmin is jealous. The two develop nick-names for each other, she becomes his “peach” and Andres becomes her “Dre”. These two are so stinkin’ cute.  I was immediately taken with them. We watch as their friendship blossoms and tries to become more. It gives a true meaning to the terms Sweethearts.
Dre and Peach are head over heels in love with each other. They are best friends and each other’s rock. However, the stars never seem to align for them, be it self-sabotage or evil doers. Can they finally find each other? Find the love that has always been there?  This story takes place over several years, with the author focusing on key point in the past to build and strengthen the story. You build a relationship and grow with these two, rooting all the way for them.
“I just wanted to be the best because you deserve nothing less, Savannah. I’ve loved you since that summer we met, ten years ago, and not a moment less.”
So, when the story takes turn for the worst, my heart sank. I was yelling,“Seriously? Come on…..”
This book has to have one of the b!tchiest, conniving, scum-guzzling villains out there.  I couldn’t stop reading but I was making myself sick by reading. I just had to get through it!!! Thank god, I did finish. Wonderful Ending. I will never have remorse or anything of the sort for that one special bitch. GRR!  I’ll let Ms. Abrahams slide on this one, A Royal bitch huh?She delivered a wonderful story about beating all odds, when it feels like the cosmos are against you. (or shady biotches…oops there I go again) I give this book 4.5 stars ! Enjoy Bookers, get some Tums ready for this one.
