I am a huge fan of HM Ward and her books and this book does not disappoint! I would say this is very different that her other books I have read which I liked. I didn't expect this from her. The book starts off with Sydney going on a blind date with her friend when she meets who she thinks her blind date is Peter. As blind dates go... she's at the wrong table with the wrong guy. When her real blind date goes from bad to worse she runs out of the restaurant right into Peter and who she is immediately drawn to. They have an instant connection. As fate would have it, Peter ends up being the new teacher at the college Sydney attends and they are not allowed to be together.  He is there to replace the previous teacher that dies suddenly of a heart attack.  To both their surprise as Sydney was the teacher's assistant to that teacher and due to her scholarship must remain as Peter's assistant. She is at college to start over and have a new a new life and keep her old life in the past along with her secrets.  Peter has had his own traumatic experience that he left behind to start over.  They have both had broken pasts and they attempt to work through their connection and feelings they have for each other.  They have everything working against them but I found myself wanting to work it out.  I was so drawn into their stories and want them to be happy as they have been through so much separately, they deserve happiness. This does leave with a little bit of a cliff hanger but its not so bad that I feel like it's the end of the world.  I cannot wait to see what's next for them in the next book!
