***Lesley's Review*** Soulfire (A Nightwing Novel) by Juliette Cross

Blurb
In a world divided by prejudice and hatred, only love can bridge the chasm.

Tensions are rising in the Gladium Province. The boundary between humans and Morgons has begun to blur. While the human aristocracy strives to maintain distance between their daughters and the dragon-hybrid race, fate has other plans.

As the daughter of the corporate king, Jessen Cade is duty-bound to honor her arranged marriage to a man she detests. Feeling trapped by family duty and a loveless future, she longs for more, straying to the Morgon side of the city.

Lucius Nightwing is the eldest son of the powerful Morgon clan, and the greatest enemy of Jessen’s father. When a bar-room brawl thrusts Jessen into his arms, his dragon roars to the surface, craving to sate his carnal hunger in the brown-eyed beauty. The beast in Lucius recognizes her as his own, even if the man refuses to admit the truth.

Lesley's Review

Interesting ....Different......The author wastes no time getting to the story.

The story takes place in a city divided by human, and a hybrid breed of dragon and human called Morgons. It kind of reminded me a bit of Romeo and Juliet in the sense that we have two main characters from these powerful and in charge families that are enemies. Jessen and Lucius are quite the pair.

Jessen Cade's father is the over protective, control all, what- I say- goes type of patriarch. Jessen literally has to sneak around her bodyguards to enjoy a little fun with her friends, but that's not all he is controlling. It appears as though Jessen is to be a pawn in the scheme of building his empire. Jessen rebels not just for the sake of it, but because that's not the life she wants for herself. She just doesn't know how to escape it.

Lucius Nightwing is the hybrid Morgon. His kind sticks to itself in a world filled with prejudice and segregation. He lives his life taking care of is family's  businesses and staying mysterious. Did I mention his blood is tied to the magical Dragon King who once ruled? That makes him on of the most powerful Morgon. He minds his own quite well until one fateful night he has a chance run in with a beautiful girl that makes his beast stand up and take note.  However, she is human and he doesn't know how to reconcile this difference.

Fate has a different plan for these two because their paths always seem to cross. To the point they realize that maybe, just maybe, they are to be together.

Nobody said that would be easy.  There are some obstacles to overcome.

Soulfire was a pleasant surprise. If you are looking for a quick, fast paced read. This is the book for you.

I give this 4 entertaining stars. I look forward to more.

About the Author

JULIETTE calls lush, moss-laden Louisiana, home where the landscape curls into her imagination, creating mystical settings for her stories. From the moment she read JANE EYRE as a teenager, she fell in love with the Gothic romance--brooding characters, mysterious settings, persevering heroines, and dark, sexy heroes. Even then, she not only longed to read more books set in Gothic worlds, she wanted to create her own.
