Where to start with this review....It's a bitter-sweet one to be doing that's for sure. These characters have been in our purview since the very first book. Janie Belle and Zane have grown along with the story.. so, there is this attachment that spans 7 books. It's like watching your niece, nephew or god child grow, except hopefully, you don't have an ending to their stories for a very long time. But, this isn't just Janie and Zane's story ....All of our beloved characters say good-bye to us as well. It was kind-of an emotional one for me. I love The Realm and all those characters and it was just sad to say good-bye. (Although, the little epilogue makes me think it isn't goodbye. Wishful thinking maybe?)Anyway back to the point....Marked was everything I hoped for and more. It was excellently written. Nothing seemed forced or rushed. With all the pressure of writing Janie and Zane's story, Rebecca exceeded my expectations and brought forth one of her best books. I wouldn't change a single thing in this book. Even for the characters I didn't like so much, but still had this annoying soft spot for. You'll know who I mean.After so many books of pondering what Janie's story would be. Who would Janie end up with? Or would Janie have to sacrifice herself to save her loved ones? We finally dig into the prophesied one. The single human girl with an army of supernaturals either wanting to help her or destroy her. She has the weight of the world on her shoulders. She knows that it comes down to her and her life long "dream" buddies, Zane and Kalin. And lets just say Janie has her sights set on Zane being more than her buddy.While attending the peace talks, Janie comes face to face with her dream friends.There is no easing into the grit, it's just there. Not everything is as it seems. With her trust shaken up and the world's fate on her shoulders she pretty much thinks she'll sacrifice herself to save them all. Well, that is until some over bearing control freak steps into her way. She takes him on with all the adorable attitude we've grown to love." It was time for Janie to grow up and let go of childhood dreams."Who does she take on? Well, that would be Zane. Sigh... I just love that man to pieces. Rebecca can create some fantastic alphas to love. Zane is everything I wanted him to be and more. He may be rough around the edges and certainly not what Janie expected, but he doesn't take no for an answer. He will save those he loves at all costs.
