The muscle in his jaw moved, and his voice was a throaty whisper. “Being with you is incredibly easy. Whether it’s a mistake, I guess we have to wait and see. I’d like to think it’s not.”
My body swayed with the movement of his thumbs over my breasts. “I want you to kiss me.”
In one swift movement, his mouth covered mine. An ache of longing moaned from my throat into his lips, and he pulled my bottom lip between his teeth. Wrapped in his arms, tight against his firm chest, heat sizzled under my skin.
He whispered over my lashes as he pressed his lips to my forehead, the scruff of his beard roughing my skin. “I’ve dreamed of holding you this way since that first night. I hated myself for it because you’d been hurt—”
“You kept me from being hurt.” My voice was breathless with desire.
His lips moved back to my cheek, down to my jaw. “You’re so beautiful standing here in the moonlight.”
Dropping to his knees, cool air flooded where the warmth of his body had been. Strong hands moved to my waist, one holding my side, the other flat against my lower back as full lips kissed my stomach through the damp shirt. His mouth moved to my hip, and I felt my legs start to tremble.
“Slayde,” I whispered, barely staying on my feet. It had been so long since I’d been touched this way, I wasn’t sure how much I could bear.

There is a good reason why Tia Louise is one of my favorite
authors. She ALWAYS delivers. These
books are sexy, funny at times and emotional. One to Love was all that and
more.
We met Kenny in One to Keep. So we already she’s had
struggles in life. And, that’s putting it mildly. Kenny has lost much but, she
still has the love of her son. He is in good hands with Patrick and Elaine.
Slade was at the top of his game as a fighter. Then one
night, he lost it all. He’s working to get his life back together and will even
take the first job offered to get there. A crappy apartment, barely enough
clothes to wear and not enough food to fill his belly is where he’s at.
Meeting Kenny is like a shock to his system. They don’t have
a great introduction to each other but this leaves Slade wanting to protect her
with everything he has. Even if it’s from himself. Kenny feels alive for the
first time in years. What is it about Slade that has her wanting more? She can
see he struggles with something but, she wants to help him. However, Slade
thinks he would lose her forever if the truth about him ever came out.
Is a risk they can take?
I loved this book from beginning to end! Like I mentioned
earlier, Tia can write an emotional story and I could feel their pain like it
my own. But ohmygawd was it HOT! Another plus was getting to see the whole gang
again. I’ve missed them all! One to Love is a standalone but I highly recommend
starting at the beginning with One to Hold!
