Excerpt for Very Wicked Things
Book #2 of the Briarcrest Academy Series
by Ilsa Madden-Mills

I got out of the shower and dressed hurriedly, anxious to get back to Cuba.
The door opened, and like he did it every single day, he stepped inside the steamy bathroom.
“Think I need a shower, too,” he said, his fingers easing off his football practice shirt.
What? Now?
Trying to play it cool and failing miserably, I moved my eyes off his naked chest and checked out his track pants and the obvious bulge he sported.
Oh. Did his lower body match the rest of him? Was it all sinewy muscle and big?
Just, yeah. That thought got stuck in my head and went round and round.
“You staying?” he asked, a grin working his face. Pleased at my open admiration, probably.
“No,” I said, but made no move to go. ‘Cause I had no shame when it came to catching a glimpse of his muscular body.
“Good,” he said, his smile broadening.
He pivoted to turn on the shower, and my eyes betrayed me again, admiring the muscles in his back, checking out how they twitched and rippled when he moved. Football and rowing had been good to him. My fingers itched to know how they’d feel underneath my hands. Which was stupid because we had nothing in common. Not a rich Highland Park boy and a poor girl from Ratcliffe.
And most importantly, he was a player, not to be trusted.
He hooked his thumbs into his pants, paused a moment—maybe waiting to see if I’d run from the room?—but when I didn’t budge, he slid them and his underwear off. My mouth opened. Cuba Hudson, the most popular guy at Briarcrest was standing right in front of me, naked and beautiful. And like the cocky bastard he was, he posed for me, his big-ass biceps and chiseled abs making me vibrate all over. Need for him slammed into me.
Did I say he was hot?
Well, I was wrong.
He was off-the-charts, no-holds-barred, freaking going make-me-lose-my-mind-right-there delicious. The ultimate man-candy, the kind I knew to stay away from, yet here I was, ogling him.
“Still leaving?” he asked huskily.
“Any minute,” I said in a weak voice, backing up to the wall and propping myself up. “Just chillin’. Shower wore me out. I might need to hold this wall up for a sec.”
“I want you to stay,” he said, eyes at half-mast, glowing with heat.
“Why?” I said, aching to touch him. But that was crazy. I was a virgin, and I didn’t know jack about touching a guy’s you-know-what.
“Look at me, Dovey.”
I tore my eyes from his manhood, blushing.
His eyes burned. “There’s a sense of urgency in my head. Like our time is limited.”
I nodded. Yeah, same here.
“And, I’ll be honest, I don’t want to rush you, but I’m dying to sink into you. I want to set you on fire with need for me.” He ghosted his hands over the steel rod between his legs. Once, twice, and—holy shizzle, he didn’t stop.
My chest rose faster and faster, and I tried to chill-out, but I couldn’t.
He lowered his voice. “Kiss me again, Dovey.”
Oh. “That’s a terrible idea, Cuba. Cause you’re naked, and I’m turned on because you’re naked. And you’re touching yourself. And you’re naked.” I sucked in a sharp breath. “Not a good combo. Odds are we’ll end up in that shower together or back in your bed doing the double-backed monster.”
“Then join me in the shower. I’ll be good. For you.” He arched his back, his hands still doing that back and forth that was driving me insane.
Liar, liar, pants on fire, I thought. No way he would he be good.
Because he was the Heartbreaker of Briarcrest Academy.
And one wicked boy.

SYNOPSIS:

Two people so bent they can no longer stand tall

With his sexy looks, his seductive dirty talk, and his resident bad boy reputation,
Kyle Marx was the thrill-ride every woman wants to experience…at least once.

And once is all he’d ever offer.

Suffocating in his own personal hell, Kyle thought sex, booze, and drugs could numb the pain of his past

Until an angel challenged him to fight…to feel

After living through a childhood that left her vulnerable and exposed, Cate Lockton mastered the art of blending in instead of standing out. She locked herself away to prevent more damage to her already fractured heart. She never imagined a man with a past more broken than her own would crash into her world and force her to let him in.
Their lives first collided on a stormy night. But Danny’s on Main is where they finally connected. A neighborhood bar where strangers become friends, friends become family and some become lovers, and where the strong learn that while you can bend to exist, sometimes you’ve gotta

Break… so you can Breathe.

BOOK TRAILER

EXCERPT:

“Danny, you don’t just hug random women without introducing yourself first. My Lord, it just comes off creepy.” The strawberry blonde woman stretched up on her tip-toes and pecked his cheek before extending her hand to Cate and Elliot. “Hi, I’m Julie Marcus; the hugger is my husband, Danny.”

Sandy B's Review:

Lisa Paul Continues to Delight! She Can Break Me Anytime She Wants! 5 STARS!
I am a big fan of the Charistown Series by Lisa Paul and just love the folks at Dannys on Main.  Breaking to Breathe (Book #3) can be read as a stand-alone but please do yourself a favor and check out Thursday Nights (Book #1) and Storm Front (Book #2).  Ultimately, it will enhance your reading experience and knowledge of these characters that have captured my heart.  Each book takes us a little deeper and revealing an additional layer, taking us into how this assorted cast of characters has ended up at Danny’s.
Kyle is a jerk.  We got that message from Thursday Nights.  A gorgeous sexy one but a mean SOB just the same.  Everything he knows about treating women, he learned from his father, and let me tell you, he learned his lessons well.  Women are receptacles to be used and discarded by Kyle.  Just another way to drown his demons (other than alcohol).  Too bad for him his demons have learned how to swim.  The alcohol, the women, the self-hate, the anger – none of it is working anymore.  He’s hit rock bottom.  Now what?!
Cate is sweet, nice, beautiful, a good person who has managed to retain her humanity despite the hand that life has dealt her. Cate has made it her priority to blend into the paint.  The last thing she wants is entanglements and one night stands are just how she likes it.  Fortunately, for her, she has a spunky BFF named Elliot who refuses to continue to let Cate “hide” from life.
One dark and stormy night (I know it’s cheezy but go with it), Kyle and Cate’s lives collide.  Little did they know that the hands of fate (a/k/a Elliot) would conspire to bring them back together again.  Little did they know that once they each had a “taste” neither one would be able to forget it.
Kyle is used to the women throwing themselves at him.  He’s not used to one who wants exactly what he says he wants.  Cate is that woman.  She knows what she wants and she’s not shy about saying so.  Yes, BTB is hot, steamy and sexy – which I expected.  Let me tell you what I didn’t expect.  The depth of the emotional roller coaster that I was taken on in the pages of this story!

There is no doubt that these two people are broken!  Each one a different way, but broken nonetheless.  Victims of their past, kept prisoners by their inability to move forward.  Then something in each of their souls, recognizes and touches something in the other, and then the choice needs to be made whether to fight for what could be.  Or just let each other go and continue into the void that has ruled their lives.

Thank God for the love of friends.  The gang at Danny’s is there to guide, advise, protect and give a good swift kick in the pants when needed just like family should.
This book made me laugh, made me cry, and made me wanna smack the hell out of Kyle’s parents.  It also made me adore the gang at Danny’s even more than I did before.  At the end, I closed my Kindle with a big sigh and a smile.  A definite 5 STAR read for me.
P.S.  I’ll share with you what I’ve been wanting, needing, waiting for since Book #1 – I need me some more GAGE!  Lisa Paul, hear this, that man curls my toes.  I can’t wait to read his story!

***Book Blast and Giveaway*** One to Hold Series by Tia Louise

One to Hold (Derek & Melissa), 2013
One to Hold Series Book 1
Available Now
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/19237304-one-to-hold

"HOT! FUN! ENJOYABLE! 5 STARS!!! I highly recommend this story and can't wait to read more from Tia Louise!" --Aleatha Roming, NYT & USA Today bestselling author of the Consequences series
***WARNING: Mature themes, strong language and sexual content. Recommended for adult readers (18+) only!***
Derek Alexander is a retired Marine, ex-cop, and the top investigator in his field. Melissa Jones is a small-town girl trying to escape her troubled past.
When the two intersect in a bar in Arizona, their sexual chemistry is off the charts. But what is revealed during their "one week stand" only complicates matters.
Because she'll do everything in her power to get away from the past, but he'll do everything he can to hold her.
(Standalone, M/F, HEA)

One to Hold was a fast paced romance that in my opinion did not drag or slow down once. Tia threw in some shockers that had my stomach dropping like I’m on a roller coaster! I really enjoyed this story about Melissa and Derek.
Melissa’s best friend, Elaine, decides she needs to take a trip. On this trip, she will begin her new life. She will do what she wants to do. She can even decide what she wants to drink. She is getting away from a life where her decisions were made for her. Melissa has filed for divorce from an abusive and cheating husband. Not to mention just downright sleazy! Wait until you hear all about what he’s been up to!
Melissa meets Derek while sitting at the bar, sipping on a drink that tastes disgusting. But, she’s drinking it because she got to order it. There is an immediate attraction between them and what happens shortly after meeting is flat out HOT! Melissa has surprised herself but at the same time she isn’t sure if she can face Derek again. So when he asks if she will meet him the next night, she can’t bring herself to go. But what can you do when all your thoughts end up back to this man? Well, you let go of what’s holding you back and give in to the desire!! It’s only a week, right?
Melissa comes home a different woman. She faces her fears and tells her soon to be ex that she isn’t changing her mind. She wants nothing of his, just his signature. And it certainly helps that she finds information on him. Let’s just say it’ll push him to sign on the dotted line. But she also found something else and she certainly wasn’t prepared for or expecting it. Hell, I wasn’t expecting it!
All this leads to her new beginning. She had to leave; there was no choice in the matter. But what happens when people just don’t want to let go? Well, it gave me a story that made me anxious, swoon and needing a fan on high! I hope you enjoy One to Hold, I certainly did!

One to Keep (Patrick & Elaine)
One to Hold Series Book 2
Now Available

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18715170-one-to-keep

WARNING: Mature themes, strong language and sexual content. Recommended for adult readers (18+) only!
There’s a new guy in town...

“Patrick Knight, single, retired Guard-turned private investigator. I was a closer. A deal maker. I looked clients in the eye and told them I’d get their shit done. And I did...”
Patrick doesn’t do “nice.”
At least, not anymore.
After his fiancée cheats, he follows up with a one-night stand and a disastrous
office hook-up. His business partner (Derek Alexander) sends him to the desert to get his head straight—and clean up the mess.
While there, Patrick meets Elaine, and blistering sparks fly, but she’s not looking for any guy. Or a long-distance relationship.
Patrick’s ready to do anything to keep her, but just when it seems he’s changed her mind, the skeletons from his past life start coming back.
(Standalone, M/F, HEA)

When I plan to read a book I sometimes wonder, is it going to make me cry, laugh, melt… you know; all the good stuff. Fewer and fewer times does it do it all. One to Keep broke my heart, put it back together and made me melt from the inside out. We had already met Patrick and Elaine in One to Hold but didn’t know much about them. Now we get their story, and it is a great one! And let me tell you, the sex is scorching and I couldn’t get enough.

They meet while in Arizona. The girls are on a spa retreat and they men are there to work. And up until Patrick and Elaine meet, all he cares about is having a good time. If that good time ends with a woman in his bed, then he knows it was a good night. He wasn’t always that way though. He happened to walk in on his fiancé getting it on with some guy from their apartment building and as you can guess, that was the end of that. So Patrick is coasting along, having as many good times that he can. First order of business is getting the tattoo fixed that has his ex’s name on it. Kenny or Kendra fixes his tattoo and he wastes no time asking her out for the next day. They know that it’s not going to go anywhere because she is moving. So why not enjoy the night to the fullest?! They end up forming a friendship with each other that neither was expecting.

Elaine has a hard time trusting men. She isn’t looking for anything serious. Never considered it, until Patrick. They have a wonderful week together and he isn’t ready to say goodbye. But that is all Elaine is ready to say. And when she walks out of the hotel to head home, Patrick has never felt that kind of pain. But they lives hours apart from each other. She doesn’t want that kind of relationship and he isn’t going to force her to see what they could have.

So who called whom first? And how long did it take? For that you’ll have to read it but just know 1) it happens and 2) it made me want to cry. My actual tears come later and you’ll see why.

They are great together! You can feel what they feel when they are together. I always hated it for them when their time would be over and it was time for the drive home. So one weekend Elaine decided to surprise Patrick and shows up at his place. Unfortunately, she isn’t the only one showing up there and it does not go well at all. I was shocked and heartbroken for all involved and wondered how it was going to work out! This is a lot to deal with!

This is where I bid you farewell. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did and I can’t wait to see what Tia Louise has in store for us in the future!

WARNING: Recommended for adult readers (18+) only. Mature themes, strong language and sexual content.

Justice, revenge, retribution.

When Melissa's ex-husband Sloan manages to beat criminal charges, she stops believing he will ever pay for what he did. Derek Alexander will not accept that--a tiny silver scar won't let him forget, and he is determined to make the man who hurt his fiancee pay.

After exhausting all legal options, Derek is ready to take matters into his own hands. Until his partner Patrick Knight shows up with an unexpected solution...

Note: This stand-alone adult romance will be best understood if read following One to Hold and One to Keep.

I’m having a hard time trying to decide which book in this series is my favorite. I am strongly leaning towards this one. And although I have loved them all, something about One to Protect, just did it for me.
We already know that Derek loves Melissa. In this story, we learn how fierce and protective that love is. I loved the level of suspense that was added as well. Derek will do anything to keep Melissa from harm and proves it. It’s not just him and Mel anymore.
Derek and Mel are still traveling back and forth between homes, not having decided where to live. It’s a long drive but they are making it work, for now. It’s when Derek has something come across his desk that he knows Mel isn’t safe and he needs to get to her ASAP. Patrick and Elaine help in a big way but Melissa is kept in the dark. Derek wants her to feel safe; she has enough to worry about.
We also learn more of Sloan’s depravity. He is a very dangerous man and Melissa will never be safe unless he is out of the picture.
OK, once I started this book, I did not put it down until I was finished! It was steamy, sweet, suspenseful and gritty, with some laughs thrown in. That is a perfect combination for me! I love these characters and am looking forward to reading what Tia Louise comes up with next!

Tia Louise is a former journalist, world-traveler, and collector of beautiful men (who inspire all of her stories... wink)—turned wife, mommy, and novelist.
She lives in the center of the U.S.A. with her lovely family and one grumpy cat. There, she dreams up stories she hopes are engaging, hot, and sexy, and that cause readers rethink common public locations…
It’s possible she has a slight truffle addiction.

***Book Blast and Giveaway*** Cyrus (Men of Steel) by MJ Fields

~Cyrus~
Truth
I know who I am. I’m Cyrus Steel, son, brother, uncle, friend to people I choose to bring into my life.
Truth
I could fuck up anyone I want.
Truth
I know the devastation I can and have caused.
Truth
I can’t change the past, but I have chosen how to live now.
Truth
I like to fuck, and I will do a chick better than she’s ever been done. Hard and wild. No more than three hook ups. No expectations, no one gets hurt. As long as she agrees …it’s on.
One of my favorite tattoo’s bridges the V, and it says Truth.
A constant reminder of who I was and who I am now.

~Tara~
I wasn’t sure I knew how or even if I should tell him there was no one who loved me. Tony was the last person to say those words to me and he hadn’t meant it. He just wanted to use me.
That’s what this beautiful man underneath me, showed me today. He hadn’t used me, he didn’t even know me. But he thought I was beautiful, and he was nice to me. Tony was wrong about him, and even though I never want to see him again, I wish I could tell him just how wrong he was.

Can truth be altered? Can truth be seen when walls are built for protection, for self preservation? Will self doubt and years of pain cloud two hearts from finding their truth?

I never liked it when the tourist season slowed down on the shore. It meant less business at the shop and more free time on my hands. “Idle minds are the devils play yard”… that’s what Momma Joe always says. I suppose that’s why we started Forever Steel to begin with. Sure, it brought in more money than the restaurant did, especially this time of year. I buy that-- but with four boys I'm pretty damn sure it also had a hell of a lot more to do with our idol hands than our minds. Pretty sure the idea came about when she caught Zandor with our neighbor’s wife. Funny as shit watching her chase them both out of the garage with that broom.
Zandor's pants were around his ankles as he ran out and Miss Betty’s tits were flying in the air. She still had her pants on, so I was confused... nah-- more like curious at first to what REALLY went on in our garage that night. That was until Jase and I overheard her going off about how wrong it was to have sex with a married woman. She was sputtering in half Italian and half English her hands flying everywhere. I remember it like yesterday.
“Momma, I didn’t have sex with her. She was performing fellatio.”
“Where do you learn words like that, Aleszandor?!”
“In your books, Momma. It’s beautiful-- adoring one’s body, and your body being adored. Miss Betty was showing me the art work she had just gotten done, and ...”
“ZANDOR STEEL! Miss Betty has the leprechaun from that cereal tattooed on her fake breasts! It’s not art! Now is there something on your penis that she needed to adore?”
“Momma, not to brag but my penis IS a work of art….”
Jase and I were rolling when she pushed through the door and grabbed our ears, mind you we were a bit old for that shit but when your Momma is Josephina Steel-- that don’t matter at all. She dragged us out to the table and sat us down for one of those ‘chats’. Xavier was due home anytime, he was actually late but we convinced her that he had said after nine, not nine.
I rocked back in my chair and looked out the window as Xavier was running through the back yard zipping up his pants saying goodbye to Miss Betty’s oldest daughter. I laughed out loud and Momma tossed me a nasty look. Jase saw him too and he was dying. No doubt he was high, back then then… Jase was a fucking wreck with losing Charlee and then Little Bell. Xavier winked when he came and Zandor gave him a high five.
I knew right away that those fuckers planned it. He diverted the mom while Xavier finally tapped that ass next door. Betty’s daughter Sally, yeah Sally, was the neighborhood tease. You know the type, hot as fuck, but too good for anyone around here. Xavier sat down and Momma walked around the kitchen yelling, pleading…. she even cried. Well, fake tears but she gave it her all. Not quite Oscar worthy--maybe a daytime Emmy.
Zandor gave him a look that asked how it went and Xavier winked. Momma’s back was turned when Xavier reached across and swiped his finger under Zandor’s nose. Fucking pig! Zandor gave him the attaboy look and Xavier continued the game of sexual charades telling us what had happened. He sucked his fingers and Zandor mouthed ‘Good?’ He shook his head yes and sat back. Zandor made a circle with one hand and pointed one finger and mimicked intercourse. Xavier mouthed ‘Tomorrow’. Jase smirked and made a gesture mimicking a blow job and he shook his head no. Jase whispered, ‘She gave me one.’
Both Zandor and Xavier gasped and Momma turned around and continued her rant.
By the end of it, they all placed bets on who would get it first and I threw my chips all on the table. I was going to have them both…at the same time.
Momma was at the restaurant the next night helping Dad close up. I had one day left of leave before I deployed again so I took over a bottle of scotch, along with an apology to Miss Betty for my mother’s behavior. Sally came home and we did a few shots. One thing led to another and well let’s just say I won that fucking bet.
Later that night I shared the information with my brothers. Sally wasn’t as pure as she would have you believe. Betty wasn’t either. Xavier was pissed at me, honest to God I didn’t see that coming, or I swear I wouldn’t have bothered. I had plenty of two on one action. I got my heart broke too, once, and never fucking again so that was it. Why the fuck would I want a relationship that I had to worry about feelings, and dates, and hearts, and flower shit so that I could make love to a chick? Fuck the pleasantries! New rule for me since then, three times that’s it. I don’t miss guide anyone-- they know the drill. I’ll fuck you hard and wild, probably ruin you for anyone else but that’s all you get. You wanna ride this train? You bring the condoms and it’s on, if not, get to step-in. Let’s be honest here-- sweaty, dirty talk, ball slapping that ass, sloppy wet blow jobs ending in my cum all fucking over your face fucking, was better than hearts and flower’s  bullshit… any day.

I am a very new self published writer. I will tell you I have always had a very vivid imagination. Starting at age 3 (as it states in my Baby Book).

Sigma was my very first love (imaginary boyfriend). He lived about fifteen miles from my childhood home, (a farm). I took him chicken noodle soup every night on one of our families snowmobiles, (Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring). Apparently he was very ill and "Thank God" I was able to take care of him.

Next was my very first self publishing gig. At eight my cousins and I (and yes I was the president) wrote a newsletter and sold it to our family members.

Years later I decided to put it back into print to entertain my cousin as she was on an aircraft carrier on 9/11 (Kick ass cousin BTW) and very far away from home during a very scary time for our country, (protecting our butts).

Fast forward to 2012. I read 50 shades and thought, I can do that, (meaning writing). I have two complete series The Love Series, and Wrapped. I have two new series Burning Souls and Men of Steel. Ten books in 13 months. CrAzY and wonderful.

I love love! ( I would love to reference Pinks new song here, however I am not sure if that would cause copyright issues.)I also tend to enjoy watching people grow and change with self realization and moments of clarity that just sneak up behind you and smack you in the head. I love people and have always been able to see both sides of a story. Each person that comes into our life leaves us with something it is what we choose to do with it that helps us grow.

I live in central New York in the middle of nowhere and am surrounded by family and friend most the time. I run a small business out of my home and spend time reading and doing the typical Mommy things. Our house is full of pets and friends and noise ninety percent of the time, and I would have it no other way.
I love people, music, laughter, hugs, and books.
