Title: Beautifully Damaged
Series: Beautifully Damaged #1
Author: L.A. Fiore
Re-Release Date: March 25, 2014
This edition of Beautifully Damaged has been extensively revised and includes new scenes.
Ember Walsh is a trusting soul with the quiet beauty of her late mother, who perished in a mysterious car crash when Ember was three. A little tomboyish from being raised by her father, Ember packs a punch when a stranger gets pushy with her in a bar, catching the steely blue eyes of a tall, gorgeous tattooed man—Trace Montgomery. Still damaged from her last disastrous relationship and warned off the bad boy by friends, Ember fights the smoldering heat that Trace sparks in her when he begins shadowing her like a dark angel.
Burdened by a lifetime of horror and heartbreak, amateur fighter Trace doesn’t want to want Ember. His deep self-loathing keeps him from having any meaningful relationships, but Ember is an itch he can’t scratch. The two push and pull, slowly crumbling their walls, seemingly brought together by fate, because the turmoil that haunts their pasts is interlinked in undeniable ways. But can these two fighters finally lay down their arms?
In Beautifully Damaged, L.A. Fiore delves into deep scars and lets love and forgiveness uncover redemption.
PRE-ORDER NOW
When I found out that L.A. Fiore was re-releasing
Beautifully Damaged, I knew I had to have it. Every time a change was made to
this book, I got the new version. I have loved this story from its inception
and this one is no different! Her writing has evolved and I feel as though she
dug a bit deeper into the characters.
Ember is such a strong character. I can honestly say that
she hung on to her love for Trace when I couldn’t have. She saw something in
him that no one else ever did. There were times when she was the only one
fighting for their relationship. He did everything he could to push her away.
In his mind, it was for the best. He would bring her nothing but pain and
destruction. But, she wasn’t going to lie down and just take it.
“Well, you go back to
your meaningless sex. Continue to live a shell of an existence because you’re
too weak to face your past and move on. But know this – you will never be free
of me. I will haunt you too. I’ll become one of your demons, because I was the
one who loved you and I would have given it all to you. You had the read deal,
but you were too much of a coward to hold onto it.”
I don’t care how many times I read this part of the story,
my heart always breaks. Trace really did put Ember through he!! . But, no
matter how hard she tried to convince him that he was a good and caring man,
she pushed her away and all but disappeared.
There is so much that happens in this book. From beginning
to end, it is a journey. Ember the wallflower that ends up shining center
stage. How is it that Trace blames himself for every bad thing that ever
happened in Ember’s life. We meet many people in this story; some you will hate
and others, love. And luckily, we will see some of them in the next book,
Beautifully Forgotten. Personally, I cannot wait for it! I am giving it 4.5 out
of 5 stars on the re-released version of Beautifully Damaged. Only because I
felt that the beginning of the story took a little longer to really get going.
However, this book will remain one of my go to reads when I have trouble
finding something new.
