I thought things were bad and weird before – hold on – it’s getting
worse.
Adam and I are both going through identity crises of epic proportions as
we Transition from who we were, and discover who we were meant to be. More Fae
are dying, and I feel as if time is running out for us to find all of those
responsible and put an end to the killings.
The people I thought I could trust have betrayed me and the one person I
should absolutely not trust; is taking me deeper and deeper into his world.
Ryder’s secrets are dangerous and devastating.
With each touch and word, he pulls my heart closer to himself and at the
same time he is trying to keep me at arm’s length. The dance he and I have
begun, is getting more complicated as our worlds are being shaken from all
sides, and the visions of the future are frightening, and nothing like I had
ever pictured for myself or those I care for.
This time, destiny is taunting me.
I had always thought that I controlled my destiny. Now, my rights are
being taken from me by powerful people and leaving me with alternatives that
range between bad and awful.
This time, the choices I have to make can decide the fate of both
worlds.
Everything is unraveling, and nothing will ever be the same again.
Lesley's Review
Here I am again
at the end of a good book and the sequel isn't out. Story of my life. Let's
just say this one ended on an "OMG,
now what" moment. Taunting
Destiny is book #2 in the Fae Chronicles and an awesome continuation of the
series. I'm not going to lie, I thought I had the story figured out. (Insert
annoying wrong answer sound). I mean honestly if I would have been right, it
still would have been amazing. However, the author pulled some "plot
twists" that had me going, "holy
sh!t,didn't see that coming". We all love those right?
We start right where we left the hot and bothered couple.
Syn running away from Ryder and Ryder hunting her down. You know typical stuff
for a Fae and his pet. It doesn't take long for the typical to change to
unfounded territory. With some of the
previously introduced characters and eventually some new additions, we embark
on finding answers.
Syn is going through transition. She's turning into the
enemy, Fae. Ryder sensing the change is near, keeps her on a tight leach. (I
may mean that figuratively and literally.)Syn is rebelling hard against all the
changes in her life. She's not sure who she should be trusting and feels like
everything is chaos. Syn's scared she'll turn into one of the ungodly looking
horde creatures. Her best friend and only family is unable to help her at the
moment. Adam is in transition and can't be around Syn, so the only person she
has to count on right now is Ryder. We all know she trusts him about as much as
she loves Fae. Not very much, if at all.
Ryder is the same egotistical, alpha, a$$ hat that we all
love. He may seem harder, more aggressive in some parts of this book, but I
believe it's his coping mechanism. He’s still trying to keep Syn beside him yet, at arm’s length. There are so many changes occurring and Ryder can't control
everything, no matter how powerful he is. Ryder will do ANYTHING to save his
people. Even letting Syn go? Let's not
forget that someone is after Syn and brutally killing Fae. Ryder is trying to
protect his people and Syn. Which is proving to be a task all in its self. It
seems that there are attacks from every angle.
Eventually, these two find their equal footing in their
relationship and their connection shines through. They grow so much together
yet, big things stand in the way of them having what they’ve come to terms
with. Deep down Syn and Ryder have hearts of gold. Which sucks because they will sacrifice themselves
for the greater good of man-kind and the Fae. No matter how selfish they want
to be. They just can’t and that just takes the cake.
I'm telling you, I did not see some of the plot twists
coming. The "changes" I talk
about are major spoilers, so it's very hard to talk about these without ruining
the adventure. I’ll tell you this much, I have no clue what’s up with Ryder or
who exactly he is. I’m more confounded than ever. We figure out who Syn is just
in time for her to get caught up in another -“f*ck
my life”-situation. Believe it or not,I got a little frustrated in the
beginning-ish area. Meaning there's a
bit of just Syn and Ryder going at it in all aspects. I can't believe I'm
saying that because this book was fantastic. I love their snarky banter and
their hot sex-capades but sometimes I skimmed. I understand what and why all that was
happening, I was just ready for sh!t to hit the fan. You know that kid who
keeps asking “Are we there yet?” Yep, that was me. I was just too anxious to
get answers, get to the nitty-gritty. Patience is a virtue, obviously I didn’t have
any at that moment. So, I felt like the
sex and fluff were slightly too much. That’s just me. With that being said I still rate this at 4.5 stars.
Amelia stayed true to her characters and carried them well throughout the
book. The plot thickened brilliantly. I can’t get enough of these two and this
Fae world that’s been created. Absolutely, one of my favorite paranormal
series’ out there at the moment. I’m sure Amelia Hutchins is hard at work on
bringing us the next installment and I’ll be stalking for updates. Errrr….. Oh
what the h*ll, I’ll own that …..Stalking it is.
