Synopsis
When Killian MacGregor, the hottest quarterback in the NFL, eyes the perfect pair of female legs, he spends an hour tracking the gorgeous woman in a room filled with rowdy teammates until one gets out of line.
Rebecca Cavanaugh, a long distance runner for the state team, intimidates boys and men with her quick wit and majestic height. The pre-season jock party isn’t her scene, but she’s roped into attending to provide her sister a sober ride home.
Hiding in the kitchen to avoid the athletic sex fest, a drunken thug forces Rebecca to her knees, and waves a giant ding-dong in her face. Before Rebecca can extricate herself from the hairy situation, an unknown champion saves the night. When Killian assists Rebecca off the floor, she’s stunned into silence while staring at the sexiest man alive.
Will Killian’s bad boy rep and Rebecca’s need for commitment, make this the most impossible “Play” of the season? Or, will Killian’s haunting past and need for victory destroy the most important game of his life?
“Play” is intended for readers 18+. Enjoy with caution… this book contains adult situations, erotic sex, and more balls than a girl knows what to do with.

I dissolved into the seat of his amazing car. A low moan escaped my lips but Killian just showed his dimples and buckled me in. I wondered what he’d do if I pulled him tightly against me and sniffed… for an hour or two. He opened his door and folded into the seat with absolute grace regardless of his size. “Ah hell,” he muttered and turned my way. Unlatching my seatbelt, he pulled me in for the most mouthwatering kiss I’d ever had. His lips, soft but firm, molded to mine. His tongue ran over my teeth, tasted, dipped deeper, and then plunged. He effortlessly slid out the elastic holding my hair before spreading his fingers to either side of my scalp. The kiss intensified and Killian made promises for the night ahead with his lips. He tasted so damn good. When he pulled back, I actually whimpered and smiled at the low rumbling growl that came from Killian’s throat. He took my lower lip between his teeth and pulled slightly before letting go. He put distance between us leaving me bereft. “We’ll eat at my house.” He kissed my forehead, reached over, grabbed the seatbelt, and fastened me in again. My hands went to my hair as I looked around for the hair tie. “Leave it.” I stopped my search but couldn’t help running my fingers through the mussed tangles. Killian’s hand captured mine. “No.” He released my fingers just as fast as he verbalized the one word. I wasn’t a pushover, didn’t have much experience with guys, but I had some. I should have argued, straightened my hair anyway, or even voiced some sort of displeasure. An electrically charged pulse shot straight to the junction of my thighs, and there I went and tried to stain his car’s upholstery. I kept my mouth shut.
Sandy B's Review
“Holy f*cking sh*t. The dream father of my future children just
walked away and I knew I’d never see him again.
But I would fantasize and my vibrator would get more use than it had
this past year.” – Rebecca Cavanaugh
“You are the f*cking hottest woman
I’ve ever seen.” His voice came out in a low, throaty growl. “I watched you at
that f*cking party, couldn’t take my eyes away.” – Killian MacGregor

Rebecca Cavanaugh is a good girl
with a bad girl sister (Candi). One
night Rebecca gets dragged to a party for some football players. She gets mistaken for a groupie/prostitute
and almost gets raped in the mouth if you know what I mean. Killian MacGregor THE quarterback, the
biggest star in the game, who just happens to be hot as hell – rescues
her. She is instantly smitten and little
does Rebecca know that Killian has got it just as bad.
I didn’t read the blurb on Play by
Holly Roberts before I started it. So, I
wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. I
was so pleasantly surprised! I chuckled;
I read with a smile on my face and even laughed out loud a few times. That doesn’t mean that this book is just
funny fluff – our hero, Killian, is carrying around deep personal pain. Rebecca doesn’t think much of herself. She doesn’t think she’s pretty – not in a
playboy centerfold kind of way that athletes want. She’s not a star athlete – she’s only “middle
of the pack”. Then there is her
contentious relationship with her sister.
Slowly Rebecca starts to see herself through Killian’s eyes. Her confidence grows and with it so does her
“voice”.
After having a conversation with
Killian’s mother, Rebecca starts to see him without the filter of stardom. She begins to understand Killian’s
moods. His need to touch her all the
time. His singular drive to win no
matter what the cost. Having gained this
new found confidence, Rebecca uses it to break down the walls that Killian has
built around himself.
Holly Roberts has written likeable
characters. I loved Killian! Despite the fact that he makes these crude
comments – out of his mouth they sound romantic. Play had just enough twists and surprises to
keep it interesting and not make it instantly forgettable. It was a fun, sexy, engaging read which kept
me interested all the way though. It
sent me to Amazon looking to see what else Holly had written. Lucky for us she has plenty of other books
available for your reading pleasure. In
particular, for those that are BDSM fans.
