The first time I met Chase Parker, I didn’t exactly make a good impression.
I was hiding in the bathroom hallway of a restaurant, leaving a message for my best friend to save me from my awful date.
He overheard and told me I was a bitch, then proceeded to offer me some dating advice.
So I told him to mind his own damn business—his own tall, gorgeous, full-of-himself damn business—and went back to my miserable date.
When he walked by my table, he smirked, and I watched his arrogant, sexy ass walk back to his date.
I couldn’t help but sneak hidden glances at the condescending jerk on the other side of the room.  Of course, he caught me on more than one occasion, and winked.
When the gorgeous stranger and his equally hot date suddenly appeared at our table, I thought he was going to rat me out.
But instead, he pretended we knew each other and joined us—telling elaborate, embarrassing stories about our fake childhood.
My date suddenly went from boring to bizarrely exciting.
When it was over and we parted ways, I thought about him more than I would ever admit, even though I knew I’d never see him again.
I mean, what were the chances I’d run into him again in a city with eight million people?
Then again…
What were the chances a month later he’d wind up being my new sexy boss?

***Lesley Reviews Marked (Dark Protectors #7) by Rebecca Zanetti

Blurb

Janie Kayrs has known Zane almost her whole life. He was her friend in the dream world. She trusted him. But that was before he kidnapped her, spiriting her away to an isolated cabin to learn what her dreams never told her. Like how dangerous he looks. How he got on the wrong side of the negotiating table. And how much sexier he is in real life…

Zane is a battle-hardened warrior, used to command and solitude. But Janie has drawn him from the minute they met. His need for her could destroy everything he’s worked for, but the risk is too sweet not to take it. They call her the Chosen One. But when it comes down to the questions of peace or war, life or death, safety or passion, it will be Janie who makes the choice…

Lesley's Review

Where to start with this review....

It's a bitter-sweet one to be doing that's for sure. These characters have been in our purview since the very first book. Janie Belle and Zane have grown along with the story.. so, there is this attachment that spans 7 books. It's like watching your niece, nephew or god child grow, except hopefully, you don't have an ending to their stories for a very long time. But, this isn't just Janie and Zane's story ....All of our beloved characters say good-bye to us as well. It was kind-of an emotional one for me. I love The Realm and all those characters and it was just sad to say good-bye. (Although, the little epilogue makes me think it isn't goodbye. Wishful thinking maybe?)

 Anyway back to the point....

Marked was everything I hoped for and more. It was excellently written. Nothing seemed forced or rushed. With all the pressure of writing Janie and Zane's story, Rebecca exceeded my expectations and brought forth one of her best books. I wouldn't change a single thing in this book.  Even for the characters I didn't like so much, but still had this annoying soft spot for. You'll know who I mean.

After so many books of pondering what Janie's story would be. Who would Janie end up with? Or would Janie have to sacrifice herself to save her loved ones? We finally dig into the prophesied one. The single human girl with an army of supernaturals either wanting to help her or destroy her. She has the weight of the world on her shoulders. She knows that it comes down to her and her life long "dream" buddies, Zane and Kalin. And lets just say Janie has her sights set on Zane being more than her buddy.

While attending the peace talks, Janie comes face to face with her dream friends. There is no easing into the grit, it's just there. Not everything is as it seems.  With her trust shaken up and the world's fate on her shoulders she pretty much thinks she'll sacrifice herself to save them all. Well, that is until some over bearing control freak steps into her way. She takes him on with all the adorable attitude we've grown to love.

" It was time for Janie to grow up and let go of childhood dreams."

Who does she take on?  Well, that would be Zane. Sigh... I just love that man to pieces.  Rebecca can create some fantastic alphas to love. Zane is everything I wanted him to be and more. He may be rough around the edges and certainly not what Janie expected, but he doesn't take no for an answer. He will save those he loves at all costs. That cost could very well be his life.

"A massive man, a true predator, a dangerous warrior."

Nothing about Janie and Zane's story is easy. With her family behind her and the man of her dreams they push forward to complete the mission.  Fate gets the big middle finger ....

"...Because you have been mine your entire life, and I'm tired of waiting."

AND that's it folks.( You know cause spoilers suck.)

5 PERFECTLY FANTASTIC stars. You will get everything you were looking for. I think pretty much all ends were tied with pretty red bows. I mean it has all aspects covered. The in-laws, the enemies, the love, the heart-break, the triumph. BEST of all KARMA. ;) Well done, Mrs. Zanetti.

***Lesley's Review of King Tomb (Forever Evermore) by Scarlett Dawn

From Scarlett Dawn comes the stunning, sexy, sensual, surprising, spellbinding conclusion to the bestselling, first Forever Evermore trilogy.

Queen Shifter, Lily Ruckler, has found solace in brutal warfare. Her bloodied fists and bared fangs fill the holes left in her memory, the blank spaces that leave her soul aching and empty. Her only pleasure is in blood; her only salvation is the relationship she has with her infant child, the baby of unknown origins who brings her solace and stability.

When Elder Harcourt summons Lily and her protector Antonio back to the United States, Lily thinks nothing unusual about the change of location. But a standard reconnaissance mission leaves her trapped inside King Zeller's private quarters, and at his mercy. Surprise attraction rapidly turns to a battle of wills and an intense power struggle that leaves no clear victor but plenty of resentment.

They are not allowed to nurse their wounds. In order to win the war against the Commoners, the King Vampire and Queen Shifter must work together. It should be easy. The war is turning, the battle is deadly, and both Lily and Ezra love the cold cleanliness of combat.

But their chance meeting has led to more than an unlikely alliance. Secrets have a way of surfacing, especially on a torn-up battlefield, and Lily and Ezra are about to re-learn all they cannot remember. If they can't control their emotions and responses, it will be to their own ruin and the destruction of everything around them.

Lesley's Review

This series just keeps getting better. I can always count on Scarlett to reel me in. She never lets me down. This is the third installment in the Forever Evermore Series. The plot continues to thicken. New people are introduced and we have more questions that are begging to be answered. You know what I say to that? Bring it on. I could spend forever in this little world.

King Tomb starts us a couple of months out from where we left our crazy group off in the previous installment. I don’t know about you all, but I was like a fiend waiting for a fix until I got this book in my hands. I had no idea how this was going to play out. I was terribly upset that they were separated and had no clue of the love they had between them, all of them.  Although, the primary focus in this book is Ezra and Lily, we do get some of Jack and Pearl towards the end.  Have Faith my friends.

In the beginning Lily is angry and frustrated. She has shut herself off to emotions, to people. She feels betrayed or let down by the man who claims the un-biological role of her father. While Lily can’t remember her past, she knows something happened. Obviously, she’s pregnant and can’t remember how exactly that happened. She feels completely empty and lost. Being the strong, -keep on moving- person that she is, she channels that into winning battles and being the no-nonsense Queen Shifter she has to be.  Then add being a mother on top of that, Lily hasn’t the time to be messing around. She has a child to protect, because she apparently, slept with a vampire.

It doesn’t take long for things to get moving in the storyline. So, the torture of the two being apart is soon quelled. JUST…maybe not the way you’d expect it. Let’s just say it hasn’t been easy for Ezra either.  Poor guy seems to be struggling and channeling his demons into extracurricular activities.

“When it comes to others, love inevitably brings pain, which we both suffered immensely during this last year.”

These two go toe to toe, and eventually, things start to fall into place.  They start to figure things out. All kinds of things will make you say “ah Hah, that’s why.”
But can they find that flame again or just a mutual understanding?
These two are my favorite kick-ass couple. Leave it to them to make you laugh and swoon all at the same time.  It’s just like being part of the family.  No matter what Ezra is willing to step-up to the plate to protect his child. (Swoon worthy) He just doesn’t see how it happened with Lily.

It’s almost like watching it all happen all over again.  I loved every minute of it.

I can’t wait to see where the story line is going. I’m intrigued by this one character who seems to be hindering, and yet, helping all at the same time.  I’m not sure what exactly he is up too. I can’t wait to figure out just what in the heck is actually going on with him and a her. I guess I’ll have to keep reading this series to figure out all the missing pieces. Darn, that’s just torturous. I’m kidding of course, but it will be torture until the next installment is released.
King Tomb is 4.5 Fantabulous stars.
